We are not a club that buys ‘experience’. We buy young players and develop them. Then we’ll sell them for 80 % more than we paid - that’s our business model. I’m sure you haven’t missed a meeting - but the way you talk you don’t seem to know that?

The Huns over in Govan signings 34 and 37 year olds is not our business model. Yes it’s annoying as * but - I say again - it’s - our - business - model and that Lawelll lad ain’t gonna suddenly start signing 35 year old ex-Milan centre halves.

Probably best you make your peace with that?

Thats the model but when were doing that and banking plenty from sales surely the next step up in that model is to start investing in a higher up bracket e.g. buying 2 or 3 £6 million players, developing them and selling on for £15 mil+. We cant just keep banking the wanyama, van dijk, armstrong, moussa fees and keep operating at the same level of transfers. Getting sick and tired of the constant loans and £1 million projects. And yes I know we spent big on eddy but that doesnt hide the fact our transfers have been mostly pish for past few years. The board, scouts and gaffer need to up their game big time.

 

I know our business model but the reality is with every few works in progress you buy you need experience. I like bringing younguns to Celtic Park and improving them but when a club needs improving now then we have to bring in experience. Also Burke and Weah on 6 months doesn't seem like an improvement to me, we make no sell on at the end.
Saying that is our business model so that makes it all OK doesn't fly with me.
Experience doesn't just mean 35vyears old. Most players we bring in have played under 100 Pro games and many under 50

 

I agree that signing loan players doesn’t fit the business model but 9 million Eduoard and 4.5 million Ntcham does

I just can’t see us signing any assured experienced class anytime soon. I hope I’m wrong!!

Is it that he can't sign central defenders or that he won't?

 

We signed Hendry and Compper last year and he was absolutely creaming himself and out thanking the board for a perfect window and getting everything he asked for.

Good chance they signings won’t even be here by the end of this window. And that’s not even including Musonda who didn’t even last half a season.

Incredible.

Yep, so now that they haven't worked out he is looking at back-up wingers on loan! I guess Bitton might be back soon...

 

Seems like a can't to me. I look at hendry, Compper and Izzy. Only the later was really worthy of a place on the bench and hardly a spot by the recruitment team. Benko came in on a loan but I doubt the recruitment teams ability to sign a defender that doesn't cost £13m

 

He bleats on about adding quality yet he has brought in a lot of dross. He recommended Congerton as chief scout and he's been a disaster.

 

Even that seems to be because he failed to get McKenna!

 

Exact same thing happened at Liverpool.

After he left he blamed all the bad signings on other people but would be out taking praise for the likes of Coutinho and Firmino.

 

Was actually wondering similar the other day, didn't he talk a lot about a smaller squad, quality not quantity.

What's the stats like, is our squad actually bigger or smaller than when he took over?
Clear not much quality has come in, but has he at least tried it.
