Now for starters, let me say I'm keen for this thread let alone my opinion NOT turn into a knee * reaction. However when BR signed for us as manager many of my Kopite mates told me - he'll do well domestically and sign the odd gem but watch out when he gets out of his depth in Europe.

Has our European games so far displayed how he struggles to manage teams in European competition? Or is it simply a case of our team being bang average/* poor against continental opposition?

Will be better next year, he has done better than most of our managers in their first season, usually they dont even qualify!

Think he was out thought tonight definitely. But other than that there's only been some minor mistakes.

    I think he'll improve us.

He is having to use players, he knows aren't up to it. We have to give him a bit of time & money to see what he can do

Even if we only look at our group stages games:

7-0 v Barcelona (outclassed regardless of who was manager)

3-3 v Man City (Excellent tactics and performance against the best team in England)

2-0 v Gladbach (Two individual errors punished and we concede two goals, along with a number of our players having a below average game)

Considering Rodgers made the signings, that were key in us qualifying for the group stages, along with navigating through some tricky ties, I think the 'can't cut it in Europe' opinion is absurd.

You can tell your Scouse mates to stop sniffing glue.

I can be patient, and he has my support and I think he has great potential to win multiple trophies and even a treble domestically for us. I also think his networking is excellent and eye for a player (Dembele, Coutinho at Liverpool)

Its just that savviness in Europe that the jury is still out on for me. Like the way he set up tonight i found dissapointing, we could of played 3 at the back, 2 up front and had our full backs using some width and gettign forward with a flat 3 in midfield pressing a team trying to knock it about.

Its his first season in Europe playing with Ronny Dalias team, what were u expecting in the group of death?
Once he brings most of his own players in we can start being more critical.

At the same time how can we compete with these teams with the money we spend? Do you expect to go toe to toe with the best teams in Europe best leagues on the money we spend?

If Rogers got to spend 20 million a season it would be unrealistic to compete in this group. Simple economics.

Which is a bit of an achievement to begin with, we had such a poor team and in many ways our team still is pretty poor. We were (or where if you ask @Raoul Duke ;)) also terribly unlucky with the group we got. It was always going to be an uphill battle for us. We are at best a Uefa cup side these days (Nothing to be ashamed of) if Brendan can continually get us into the group stages then finishing 3rd for the Uefa cup we'd all be extremely happy.

@Minty for complete clarity to everybody - there kopites. So they talk *. Plus as I said, he nearly won the league at Liverpool and I think he has great potential.

I'm just posing a question more than stating an opinion - is Europe his achilles heel? Seemingly to even ask that is sacriligous on here.... @manibhoy @Bumblebee @Crow @callumrae1967

Steady on man, I might not agree with him either but he is entitled to share his opinion.
