Once again a big thanks to Minty for keeping this alive over the past few months.

Even if, with the last comp did beat me to the punch with doing a geographical specific competition (kind of), which would in actual fact had been BotB VI if I'd not vanished for like 6 months, lol. But that is still up my sleeve for another comp down the line. :bbpd:

Anyhow, for this competition, it's time to get into the DeLorean had head on back in time to the...

Yes, the birthplace of MTV, when cassette tapes ruled and a brick sized Walkman was on many a hip. Big hair and day glo were a thing, yuppies and AIDS deaths were on the rise, the Cold War kept rumbling on, the Berlin Wall was brought down and amid a massacre, one man in Tianamin Square would dare to defy a tank.

Closer to here, Thatcher was decimating entire communities, the Unions went to war and poor old Belfast was no place to be raising kids. Off the pitch there was Hillsborough. And Heysel. :54:

    And Mo became Judas. :47:

On the pitch, Scottish Football was actually... umm, what's the word... competitive (- that's it!) with the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee Utd standing tall, both domestically and in Europe, Paul McStay was the idol of the Jungle and even Scotland were still capable of qualifying for tournaments, even if it would come at the tragic loss of our beloved Big Jock. :54:

From Indiana Jones to the Goonies, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and Die Hard, Hollywood actually made films that were entertaining and iconic.

(As it happens, this theme was inspired by the recent film 'Sing Street', lol)

Then there was the music. And I guess, that is where you all come in.

To qualify for this upcoming BotB, your selected artist needs to have released at least 2 studio albums between 1980 and 1989, inclusive.

If your artist has albums outwith of the 1980's, of course there will be opportunities to use that material, but letting you all know in advance that at least 2 songs will be needed that come from the 1980's.

The first round will be a 1980's round. The second will be a live round, the third will again be 80's. Thereafter, will be entirely to your choosing (unless you reach the final, in which case at least 1 more song will need to be 80's).

As for bands that have previously featured in BotB, am only allowing those that have had only one previous entry at most, and no previous finalists either.

Jacko watching from the sidelines. Sorry.

    PRIZES

Naturally there will be prizes up for grabs! All entries will recieve something, in addition to voting bonuses etc. Am setting aside a total prize pool of up to...

    v$5,000,000

This all gets underway with Round 1 songs being posted:

    Friday 15 July
    8-9pm (approx)

So you have just over a week to decide on an artist, as well as your Round 1 song submission.

Now taking entries. First in, first served.

No. Piece of * mate. All you do is submit songs by your band then vote on other songs.

    It is very straight forward.

    1. Nominate an artist & until you are eliminated you submit a song.
    2. Artists compete in groups/match ups - determined by random.org
    3. You vote on the songs that you are not in direct competition with.*
    4. Process of elimination to determine the ultimate winner.

NB:- Some early rounds there is a 'Play Off', so noone is shafted and everyone gets at least 2 bites at the cherry, so to speak.

I'm not sure if Taz would prefer to name the artists himself, so I wont just in case, but as a vague hint I know at least one popular band and solo artist are already gone.
