There's really no chance of this happening. He's got 3 years on his contract doesn't he ? Stoke will sell to the highest bidder which will never be us. If we did somehow have a bid accepted, there's no way we would pay an acceptable wage for him. The whole package would probably need to be £15m+ .. he's simply not worth that for us.

We would be better investing that money in someone like Onyekuru, assuming Rodgers rates him.

    Is he that good though...?
Appreciate he has a fair amount of European experience (albeit not for the past few seasons) and has acclimatised to our weather (maybe not Aberdeen or Inverness in December, granted) but surely there are better players to break our transfer record for...?

Brilliant player in my opinion, but we should move on.......which I'm certain we are..

According to Stoke fans forums, he's on 65k a week, has plenty of "raw" talent but has no positional or situational awareness and has been * since returning from an injury, which apparently has prompted Mark Hughes to shift him on as dead weight.

    Nope.

Im thinking this one could be more of a loan deal than a transfer- the wages and potential fee seems out of our comfprt range

Can't help but think that he'd be a Sinclair, in a way that he'd almost certainly be a top player and make a great player for us. Biggest difference is that the price seems to be massively inflated, whereas Sinclair was about as perfect a price as you can get. Not sure if the wages, or fee (if we eventually got him permanently) make sense for us. Would rather look at sealing the Onyekuru deal.

He was also their best player before the injury.

Then opinion of EPL fans is a fickle one. According to Villa fans Sinclair was gash as well.

I dont think i'd sign him, considering he'd probably cost £6million and £40k per week it'd be too much money for us to risk on someone who's not really a consistent performer. A chance he could be great and go on to be a legend but the chance he could be useless as he's not a real striker or real playmaker, also seems one of those mentally weak players who plays well sometimes and is * others more like Samaras than Sinclair.

If he's available for 6 million we should bite their hand off.

But he isn't, that's half the valuation that Stoke slapped on his head as soon as Boro showed an interest.

Our board have got a lot of stick in past years but they aren't stupid.

If we can afford to pay £6-8m for a player(not necessarily meaning Bojan) then lets do it. Let the money men deal with the money, I'm sure they wouldn't splash out if they felt it was going to send us spiralling into liquidation. Fans have called for us to spend money but as soon as we are rumoured to be doing so, people start panicking and imagining the worst possible outcome:56:

Every transfer is a risk, if Rodgers wants a player, any player, I'm quite happy to go along with it at this moment in time.

Dont think we would * that amount of money with no sell on value, think the successful buy low sell high strategy dictates that

Rodgers says he's in control. New strategy in place.

Yeah you know I fully believe Rodgers has final say, I don't think he would have came here if he didn't. Seeing as he had that transfer committee in place at Liverpool who had final say which he wasn't pleased about.

Loan deal with an option to buy an acceptable transfer?
