Can hardly wait for that one. The original Blade Runner is my favourite sci fi film. This version sounds like it's got the big atmospheric soundtrack as well.

Denis Villeneuve is probably the best director about just now as well.

He's good but he's nowhere near the best around just now. Prisoners is great, Enemy and Sicario are average. I haven't seen Arrival yet and to be fair that seems to be his best film yet.

That will definitely be a film I will go to the cinema to watch. I remember watching Blade Runner in college in film studies and being blown away by it.

this looks * hot, looks as if it will have same creepy atomsphere and soundtrack which was one of the originals strong points.plus loved the cinematogrphy

had the old pc game and completed it when i was younger, but just watched an updated directors cut of the original few months back and was impressed by it.this will be a film id rather see and hear on the big screen rather than downloading it.

Watched that Blade Runner for the first time a while back. Thought it was absolute dung.

In fact, it's one of my favourite films to put on when i'm desperate to get to sleep.

    Just my opinion of course.

But for me, it is boring as *. And, it DOES send me off to sleep, usually within the first 15mins.

I know what you mean it is a slow burner, but the people I know that like it is to do with its visuals and the differing plot theories, plus the replicant bird Rachael is * banging. :50:

I've never seen the original before. Should really give it a watch.

A word of caution regarding the original though - it's probably not aged that well. When it first came out (1982) it was a revelation . I liked the Phillip Marlow style commentary which they took out for the directors cut & that seems to be the default version now .

Cracking big Vangelis soundtrack as well.

He's easily the best just now IMO.

No other director is even close to the kind of run he's on the now.

    Nonsense.

Alejandro Inarritu has won back to back Best Director at the Academy Awards for The Revenant and Birdman. Ryan Coogler and Steve McQueen have been on a roll the last few years. Then you have the consistent David Fincher, Alfonso Cuaron, Wes Anderson and Richard Linklater.

Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are the big names who rarely release a film that is less than good.

Plus, my favourite director, Edgar Wright. His track record is great as well.

I'm not saying he's better than them period. I'm just saying if you were to pick someone just now who could be basically guaranteed to make a brilliant movie then it's him by a long way IMO.

Enemy Prisoners Sicario Arrival. No other director is on a run like that.

Enemy was by no means a critical darling. Just look at its reviews. Sitting on a 6.9 on IMDb, which is hardly great. Sicario isn't too much better.

Prisoners is one of my favourite films this decade and Arrival seems to be fantastic so only really 2 out of 4 have been massive successes.

Anyway, this is probably best saved for another thread!
