The Sweeney and Minder were the big things in my head when I was growing up, looking back at them now you realise how bleak the world was back then and that was London :56: Glasgow 30 times worse

Im happy someone already mentioned Boys From The Blackstuff, there was something very moving and poignant about that programme despite the comedy moments that people remember it for, I left school around then and can relate to its desperation narrative, whole parts of the UK were literally not working and being ripped apart socially.

Ive always struggled with American stuff, no idea why and that why The Sopranos was such a shock to me as I must say its probably the best series Ive ever watched, its hard to know where to start with that such was its brilliance.

Always liked Auf Wiedersen Pet, great characters and very funny...comedy at its best in a time that PC was not rearing its head.

Simply cant be bothered with TV these days and dont watch anything if Im honest

Been watching House of Lies. Don Cheadle plays the head of a team of management consultants in LA.

Drama/comedy but not like a sitcom comedy, swearing and * etc, really good programme.

Need to find something that will have me as glued as BB, SoA & TWD did. Albeit TWD only had me glued first 4 seasons.

Tried Sopronas but lost interest in 1st episode but I'm sure if I stuck it out for a cpl of eps I'd get into it?

Wasn't a huge fan of the first season of The Sopranos, but after that it's fantastic.

Game of Thrones is, in my opinion, on another level compared to Breaking Bad. And about 10 levels up from SoA and The Walking Dead. Get that watched.

The Leftovers is incredible as well.

It's unfair to include Game of Thrones in this as it's literally on a higher plain than anything else.

I loved Dexter, Breaking Bad and even the likes of Suits and the Blacklist but GOT is different gravy.

73 pages about the best series ... What do you think someone makes a poll of 50 or as many series as mentioned in these 73 pages? However, the TC poll allows a maximum of 15 choices, so we should have several threads and then the top 5 from each poll in the final. Just the idea...

Try watching the "Pine Barrens" episode, that's the one many say is among the very best episodes

Nothing tops The Sopranos or GoT for me.

Breaking Bad is great as well. And what I've watched of The Wire so far I've though was class.

Nothing holds my attention like GoT though.

I struggled with Breaking Bad, I watched three seasons and still nothing had happened. I also found it pretty badly scripted, the only thing that saved it was Cranston's acting. He is a superb actor and has come along way from being Seinfeld's dentist.
I am always surprised when I see Sons of Anarchy being mentioned in things like this. I only watched a few episodes and found both the acting and writing to be appalling, nothing seemed real or believable.
