I'd take the grimiest pub on the Gallowgate over most, but there are some cracking pubs in the West End.

The best pub as far as I am concerned is the Square Peg in St. Enoch Square.
It always has a great atmosphere in it and the prices are right.

    Love that on match days.

Just going out I love the Scotia, like the live folk music, random people getting up to play and the atmosphere that creates.

    Great tab as well.

You drink in McChuills? I wonder if we have rubbed against each other trying to get by the bar.

How does one define the best thou. Is it for the madness or one where you'd get a nice quiet pint and be able to read the newspaper in peace. I haven't been in many pubs in Glasgow apart from Tim pubs, but I can tell you something, I have had some cracking days/nights down that gallowgate in the late 90s and early 2000s. Yes they where * kips but had some amazing times in them. Would I bring my kids there, would I * but they where great pubs. I remember getting looked after, 1£ a pint and 1£ a vodka with coke for all the lads. * me it was like Christmas. Tables full of drink flowing from fri-mon. Any pubs like this is the best IMO.

That's the reason I've asked the why pal, so people can say what makes it the best pubs kinda thing.

I've been to most of the Celtic pubs and had a couple nights out around Glasgow, some cracking pubs in the city.

Used to travel in and out of central station daily..

So 'Horseshoe Bar' was a good stop.

Good mix of folk, good mix of beers, cheap food at the bar, great place to meet and go on elsewhere or for a session, no * music, great wet afternoon pub. Always got talking to amazing range if folk in there. Would see all sorts in there. Saw Lemmy briefly in there one night , must have been 1991/2. Loads of ex- footballers / footballers, remember Robbie Coltrane in there a couple of times.

Saw Ian Durrant in there once being rather undignified..

Used to like 'The Griffin' just off Sauchiehall Street, proper old style interior.

    Only dr
Aye was a decent wee pub, shut down a fair while ago though I think. It's now called garvies, which is a bar restaurant, whisky bar and bakery. Have been for dinner there a few times. Decent food but */no atmosphere; no really somewhere to go for a pint. Think it's named after the soft drinks factory that was closeby; also now shut down.

Difficult for me to name a favourite pub. Up town I like Sleazys, Variety Bar, Waxy o Connors, Scotia Bar, Babbity Bowsters, Mcchuills. In Partick I like the Lismore, Gallus and the Smiddy. Big Slope a bit further up the road is decent too; always cracking barmaids. Was in Distill in Finnieston on Friday; seemed ok but they didn't serve pints, only schooners. Nae need for that pish at all.
