Closure of famous Celtic supporters' Bairds Bar

    Published on Friday, 08 February 2013 17:07
Bairds Bar, famous amongst Celtic supporters bar, on Glasgow's Gallowgate has now become infamous due to its enforced closure from 2pm today onwards.

Following today's meeting of Glasgow City Council's Licensing Board, Bairds Bar was found to have broken two of the five requirements: grounds for preventing crime and disorder; and procuring public safety.

The owners of the establishment are thought to be considering an appeal.

Hopefully it will get a good clean while its shut, hate the smell of b.o and drink thats probably soaked into the seats and scarves over the years. Great pub with great atmosphere but probably the smelliest pub ive been in.

Place was rough as *. I know a lad who got a kicking and slashed across the back for simply not standing up when the Irish national anthem was being sung. The guy was Irish!!!!
Maybe a little time shut to clean up certain elements will do it the world of good.

100% agree the sooner all pubs where Celtic fans go before the game on a weekend are closed the better. ( As long as we can get 60,000 for cl games).

And I totally condemn the slashing of the guy( in the message before).

Your saying he got a doin' simply because he never stood up?

And what's the rest of the story?

You can't punish the majority of fans who like to enjoy a drink before and after the game because of a few incidents. You will take away part of the match day experience for them. Also many fans go to the pubs to watch away games that they won't have tickets for.
