Never China, those * have money to burn and wouldn't waste a crucial foreign player spot on dross like Stokes - That's really what he is these days.

Australia would be an option or somewhere fairly obscure like Malaysia. Defos not the MLS with his rap sheet!:56:

NEIL Lennon and Leeann Dempster were among Hibs chiefs forced to evacuate a packed hotel with terrified guests — after Anthony Stokes chased a young teammate through an alarmed door in a brainless stunt.

The striker’s late-night prank on the club’s winter break to the Algarve backfired as an alarm went off.

Furious bosses later ripped up the ex-Celtic hero’s contract. A source said: “He had to go.”

Stokes, 29, sparked a 5am panic at the five-star Algarve resort by bursting into a room where two starlets were sleeping and blasting a fire extinguisher at them.

It’s believed one of the lads raced through an emergency exit to escape — triggering the alert.

And it meant the Hibs party including manager Lennon and chief executive Dempster were forced outside the Penina hotel in Portimao, Portugal, with startled tourists.

Last night, a source said: “You had the squad and bosses along with families with frightened kids and other guests standing in the cold thinking this was a real fire.”

It’s believed Easter Road bosses hit the roof when they discovered Stokes had caused last month’s scare along with teammates Danny Swanson and Martin Boyle.

The club hauled the trio over the coals for the stunt, which came three months after Stokes had a training ground bust-up with Lennon.

The Hibees had flown to the sunshine golf resort during the Premiership winter break for warm weather training — and went out for a team meal on January 7.

They were given the next day off and allowed to let their hair down but were ordered to adhere to a strict curfew.

But it’s believed a group of players were caught drinking beyond the time set — before Stokes sparked the extinguisher mayhem.

The insider added: “The players were given a night off and a bit of time to enjoy themselves.

“Stokes has roped in Swanson and Boyle and they were fooling about after curfew.

“Stokes and the other two burst into a room occupied with two younger players and let off the fire extinguisher.

“This prank affected not only his teammates and bosses but guests who thought there really was a fire.”

Celtic legend Lennon was furious after the incident and the trio were dropped for a friendly three days later against Dutch side Willem II.

They were made to train on their own for the rest of the break.

Stokes was on thin ice following a row before a match with Hamilton Accies three months earlier.

Showdown talks had been ongoing but it was announced on Tuesday that Stokes’ contract was terminated by mutual consent after six months — leaving the former Hoops striker a free agent.

Stokes declined to comment but a pal claimed he felt he, Boyle and Swanson were unfairly targeted for criticism because other players were allegedly involved in the extinguisher drama.

The insider said: “It was a daft prank by a group of young men that got out of hand. There was no malice, just stupidity.

“Anthony and the club decided by mutual consent to move on, he’s got great fondness for Hibs and he wishes them all the best for the future.”

The ex-Ireland international was a marquee summer capture for ex-Hoops boss Lennon, the third time Stokes had played for Hibs.

On Wednesday, the Northern Irishman said: “I was very disappointed with the way things ended.

“There is a line that I won’t tolerate and Anthony had plenty of chances not to cross that line.

“It’s a shame, but I can’t keep rapping him on the knuckles and saying it’s all right.”

It's the fact he plays the victim all the time. Tried to undermine Lenny by stating, The manager overeacted to the training ground incident. Lenny would've been ragin. Still a daft boy, who I liked as a player.

Talk about a fall from grace. Arsenal, Celtic, and a rejuvenated Hibernian, to Apollo Smyrna...?

Fair * to him. If I weren’t good enough for the Hoops, I’d be playing in the sun. The football obviously isn’t a major concern for him now.

Talented player - could have been a lot better.

If he was in any way a decent pro he would still be here. Has great ability but just obviously still a daft wee boy. Good luck to him.

You missed Sunderland off the list mate. I'd put them just a few levels below Appollo Smyrna :50:

Nah, he's just a * with an appalling attitude.

I've been in his company a couple of times, and he's spot on, but in footballing terms he's a waster.

Was in trouble * umpteen times at Celtic under Lennon, and was in trouble umpteen times at Hibs under Lennon.

What a waste of a very talented player .
If he had screwed the nut he would have had a brilliant career and earned millions but he has just * about through his career and will end up working for minimum wage somewhere . The idiot needs his * kicking for * up so much potential.
