No. That is why many english teams have partnership with belgian/dutch teams: to circumvent the work permit rule and have them playing at a relatively decent level

Isn't it why Man City gave us Arzani for 2 years?

I am not sure, but it would make sense as it is easier to get a work permit here.

Glad he's straight back in the side, thought after missing Cincinnati's first win and clean sheet in ages that he might be stuck on the bench for a while.

ANDREW GUTMAN is set to return to Celtic in an attempt to impress Neil Lennon in training.

The American left-back, 23, is midway through a loan to MLS club FC Cicinnati that will keep him there until the end of next year.

But now that the side’s 2019 campaign has come to an end, Gutman intends to return to Scotland to train with the Hoops.

Speaking to FC Cincinnati’s website, Gutman explained why he doesn’t fancy having a holiday just yet.

He said: “Right now I’m planning on going back to Celtic and training for a month, probably until around December.

“After that, I’ll take a couple weeks off, go back home and hang out with the family.

They’re definitely in-season but they have such a big squad, so the guys that aren’t rostered for the games, they’ll have training sessions.

“I’ll get a good stint of training over there with them, just to get back in front of their faces and show them my qualities again, so it’ll be good.

I’ve been through two pre-seasons this year so I definitely want to give my body a break at some point.

“But I think, what is it, two-and-a-half months until our pre-season starts here?

“So I definitely want to continue just a little bit longer if I can and then hopefully get six weeks off until January.”

Gutman spent the latter part of last season on loan at USL Championship club Charlotte Independence before joining Cincinnati in August.

He has since gone on to make eight league appearances for the MLS club and hopes to keep playing regularly in their 2020 campaign.

Asked about how his time there so far and his ambitions, Gutman said: “It was a big step in my career obviously.

“I played in the USL and did well there and I think coming here was a good opportunity for me to get games at a high level, and I think I’ve done pretty well so far.

“The main thing is just contributing to as many games as I can, helping us get positive results as much as I can and obviously showing well for myself and the team.”

Every time his thread is bumped I always know his name but can’t remember who he is until I click in. One of the two yanks we signed. Think he is meant to be decent and he’s making the right noise. Fair play.

Will be mad to have 3 right backs and 3 left backs to choose from, some depth. Hopefully get his visa sorted soon.

More than decent i would say. Ive watched a few matches and hes been a standout. It usually goes.. he gets the ball, runs the lenth of the pitch and sets up a chance for the attacker who usually misses. Rinse and repeat

Only way he gets a visa is if he can break into the US national team set up. Until that happens no visa.

Nightmare of a situation. Things couldn't be worse for US team when they're losing against the likes of Canada, either. Maybe Celtic should broker a deal to make it happen. :56:
