Why are folk questioning the level he's played it.

It's like questioning why someone hasn't had an engineering job when they are still in Uni studying for it.

He is older than KT and while he has been studying, KT has racked up 95 first team appearances.
Nothing wrong with studying but think it’s reasonable to look at the experience he has and at what level.

Obviously a class or 3 above the level he’s been at as well seeing he’s scored 20 goals in 90 games from LB.

    Completely different.

As I've already said. The NCAA makes players achieve a certain grade to even be eligible to play. So on one hand he needs to study to play and it's a pretty smart move since football careers are so short. Chicago have also been wanting him to drop out, so it's not like he's not had offers. He could have been in MLS at 19/20.

Now he's 22 moving to a new country, with a degree and a move to a massive club. If it works out for him he could be a US international for the next 10+ years.

Hope he turns out to be good.
Big change of environment for him though, think it might be a while before we see him in the first team.

Its well within reason. The NCAA is nowhere near the standard of the SPL or the level that of the players in our first team squad. Would you be happy if we signed a 22 yo youth player from say oxford united and expected him to come in and make a difference mid way through a season where we find outselves struggle to sustain form?

Your analogy doesnt quite work in this imstance because the university education would qualify the engineer, where as university isnt a necessity in this situation.

My point being is given the stature of our club and the level we are playing at, that we shoud be signing players from a better pedigree.

Go read my post above because cba repeating myself.

We’ve signed players with a higher pedigree and they’ve been horrendous. I’m happy with this signing, we don’t need him to come in and make an impact but if he does then great. It’s risk free.

Not writing him off for wanting to finish college, im making the point that its a huge jump in quality and that i think we should be looking at more proven players to add to our squad.
I dont think its unreasonable to expect a lot better.

And so surely that would suggest that its increasingly unlikely that signing one from a lower standard would succeed with us?!
Well we havnt been too hot this season so id suggest that we need to sign players who are going to come in and improve the team.

How does it? Neither of us know how we will adapt but at least I'm giving him a chance while you're writing him off.

Not sure if you're aware, but LB isn't really a priority in the transfer market. We need someone to come in and cover for KT, not set the league alight.

Its no really hard to understand, how many players from a similar level have succeeded with us?

    We have izzy for cover.

Dont really know if you’re aware but we are a lot worse off domestically at this stage than the last few seasons. The league is more competative this year and we should definitely be signing players who can come in and make an impact.

Don’t get why folk are comparing him to KT, there’s no chance we can get someone in like KT at that age on our budget, this lad is a back up so unless KT is out for the rest of the season he wont get much game time.

And at least wait until we see him play in the hoops until judging ffs.

We’ve never signed a player from the NCAA, so you have literally no argument to base that off. And let’s not get this twisted, this guy is an MLS level player but he wanted to finish his studies. I doubt you’d be moaning if he’d gone to Chicago when they wanted him and he had 2 seasons under his belt.

Izzy isn’t good enough to cover for a prolonged period of time, we need another option to come in and compete.

We aren’t a lot worse off. We’ve set such a standard for ourselves that is so high it’s given some fans this feeling of entitlement. As soon as we drop points it’s time for a meltdown. We are top of the table and we’ve only gotten stronger during this window.

Signing a backup left back isn’t going to have any effect on the other signings we make, as if it’s a choice between Gutman and a player in a different position who goes straight into the first team.

You’ve already written him off based off nothing. It’s the strangest logic. EPL level arrogance.
