Skippy isn't one of our best IMO, he's good but not one of our best players.
If Boyd is worth 3m and we get 6m for skippy that proves we are not reliant on selling but prepared to do thre smart thing.

You're missing the point of the example.

I'm not requoting it for you, you can find it yourself if you're interested. And of course I'm not saying that. But a 1000% profit is anything but good business if a player is worth more than what you're selling him on for, that's all I'm saying.

He's our best striker, and is our best goalscorer.

Boyd isn't necessarily worth £3m - the Huns are strapped for cash, and are willing to listen to any half arsed offers for players. If he was at Celtic and had scored 20 goals for us this season, his price would be a lot more than that.

But he's still in the category of a player we build our squad round, along with the likes of Boruc, McManus, Caldwell, Brown, Crosas, McGeady and Samaras. These guys are all relatively young and if they can be kept together for 3,4,5,6 years then they will certainly be moulded into a very very good side.

Just because someone is worth x amount, doesn't mean they should be sold at x amount. If you have real ambitions of making progress as a club Skippy is the type of player you keep, and i'm so thankful that the people that matter, ie Strachan and Lawell, agree and have stated on many occasions that these guys will not be sold.

Thats my point if we get 6 for Skippy its the smart thing to take it, if he was at the huns they'd get 2 for him.

Boyd's available for 3m and no clubs are biting the hand off of Murray.

GS wanted to keep Miller, an offer came in that Lawell felt was in excess of his value, SOLD end of.

I don't see what this has to do with it.

The question is: if we sold Scott McDonald for £6m, would we be able to replace his goals and importance to the forward play and squad with that amount of money, in time to help us in our bid for the treble? That's the question. I personally wouldn't be too confident.

Doubt the Huns would let Boyd go for a couple of quid, to be fair.

Money Money Money. A lot of people seem to be completely missing the point of what's going on at our club. If we were in hefty debt then i could understand why people would think we need to accept bids just because they exceed the value of the player. The fact is we don't and i have issue with anyone who would gladly take money for any player who is young enough and talented enough to become a great great player for us.

I've staed before that i'd knock back £20 mil for Brown if anyone was brave enough to bid that for him, because we're a football club and we want to build a football team capable of competing at the highest level. It's a well known fact that we don't have the money to buy top players in their prime so we go down the road of buying talent and building them up to become top players, and McDonald is one of they players.

Mark my words he will not be sold.

Look, i think he is a decent player, i don't think he is particularly talented and that 6m is more than a fair price for him. We aren't talking about flogging him off on the cheap, it would be our second highest transfer fee recouped, for a player that i don't think is instrumental to the team.

Just read through the whole thread there.
I actually couldn't agree more any more with the Kilkenny Bhoy.
Spot on in everything he's said imo.

That's fine, but I think you're wrong in thinking he's not instrumental to the team. Do you think we'd have as good a chance of winning the treble if he wasn't here as opposed to if he was?
