Post Split Home and aways.

You just know the corrupt * will send us to hibs and livi. The only two grounds we have dropped points on this season, and one on which we haven't won a league game at in 6 years.

 

Financial decisions more important than fair play.

Instead of any team getting 3 home matches the game could be played at a neutral venue. One team can get the gate and the other team who can get the majority of the tickets so they have opportunity to make it more like a home game.

 

Tbf hibs where out league in 2 or 3 of those 6 years

I done the calculations the other week and for everyone in the top 6 to have 19 home and 19 away we would be up against.

Huns (H)
Livi (A)
Hibs (H)
Motherwell (A)
Aberdeen (H)

Huns would have us, Sheep and Livi away with Hibs and Well at home.

 

Thats not terrible tbh.

 

The split is * stupid. I don't care of the reasons it's stupid. I don't know any other league that does this and trying to explain to people where I live (just north of London) is a * nightmare. Do you know why? Because it's stupid.

Increase the size of the league. Play a proper amount of games both home and away.

 

Do you know what it comes down to . If you don't fulfil your fixtures you get punished . We are not fulfilling our fixtures by not having two more of these games at home . We should have five at home after the break . And those counts should have five away. End of

 

Then we’d have played 21 games at home and 17 away.

They’d have played 17 games at home and 21 away.

Nobody could have predicted Hearts and Kilmarnock would drop out of the top 6 at the start of the season tbf.

 

Seen it proposed that we should have 14 teams in the league.

Play everyone home and away - 26 games.

Top 7 and bottom 7 split and play each other home and away - 12 games each.

38 games total still and us and our closest rivals will all have the exact same fixture list.

 

Don't bring common sense and reason in to this. We have a post split to deal with, where we need to have the split games as even as possible, regardless of the season!!!!!

Genuinely don't think a single season has went by where there hasn't been an issue with the fixtures post split, combined with position 7 and 8 can tend to have more points than position 5 and 6 and the whole thing is a * joke.

 

Not talking about the season mate just the mini league we're in and in that mini league they have a 12 / 8 advantage . So why shouldn't we have a 21 /17 advantage

 

Probably the most sensible suggestion.

I understand why we do it but the execution of it makes it incredibly stupid.

We have to keep it a 38 game season as teams need that income from the games, but having some teams having more home games than away games after the split is stupid.

 

About the most logical version of having a split - but that would be too simple.


On the whole, I'd scrap the whole lot and start the entire footballing structure again - two leagues, get them named in Gaelic, and have the top division as 20 and the bottom as 22 teams. 3 up 3 down with 2 automatic and a play off to determine the third for that desired play off match. Scrap the league cup completely, and make the Scottish cup a two legged affair starting in October and running to May.

 

Given Kilmarnock were expected to decline after Clarke left, Hearts were already in free fall and Motherwell on the up, it's hard to explain why the fixtures have fallen quite like they have.

It's the first time this has happened apparently, but it wasn't that hard to predict who would finish top 6.

Good to see the problem was noticed now and a bit of time to think it over and not pretend they have been caught out. They better not shaft us.

 

I think many people predicted Celtic, Huns, Hibs, Aberdeen and Hearts to be there.

Even the bookies odds suggested Hearts and Killie would be 5th and 6th.

It's a nightmare to explain? Are they mentally challenged?

 

Tbh the split thing is a bit of a mind *. No other league does it.

We play some teams FOUR times! Others three!

We have no idea how many we're playing away or at home?

If you finish in the bottom half before the split, you can't leapfrog the teams above you, even if you have more points than them.

Maybe my explanation is mental challenging? Maybe I'm mentally challenged?

Could be them, mind.

 

Aye it makes perfect sense and would improve the league.

Hopefully this dilemma will highlight the need for change to the 14 team set up.

If I were in charge I’d implement it for next season now and do the following.

1. Celtic
2. Huns
3. Aberdeen
4. Motherwell
5. Hibs
6. Livingston
7. Kilmarnock
8. St Johnstone
9. Ross County
10. St Mirren
11. Hamilton
12. Dundee Utd (promoted)
13. Hearts vs Arbroath play to decide.
14. Ayr vs Inverness play to decide.

So instead of relegating anyone make them play 4th place in championship for a spot. Whilst 2nd and 3rd in the championship play for the other spot.
