A fraction of what he is paid at Celtic.

2016 Celtic appoint Brendan Rodgers on a £2m per season contract.

2 weeks later the Celtic board award peter lawwell 104% wage rise!

Him and his * colleagues won’t react till a title is lost. Their policy is massively outdated, We sold KT for 25 and about 20 of it has been spent. 7 on Julien and the rest on some projects. It will be the same with edouard we will sell him for 30 spend 7-9 on someone who improves the side and the rest will be punts and 1 will be successful. Our potential is limited by our board.

People say we are well run but since 8 in a row began we’ve wasted about 40 mill in fees and wages on awful punts when we could’ve spent the same amount on proven quality that would’ve had resale value. In that time we have also missed out on the champions league 4/8 times which is circa 120 mill in lost prize money while being seeded every time

The bonus that was more than twice his annual salary is even more mental

Simplistic this maybe, but 18/19 he earned around £67,500 per week

CELTIC Football Club has today asked Sky Sports to conduct an investigation into an interview broadcast yesterday, which accused Celtic supporters of racist behaviour.

Translations provided to Celtic Football Club have shown inconsistencies between the words spoken during the interview broadcast and the subtitles used by Sky Sports.

In particular, and most concerning, while the broadcaster used the following subtitle on screen: "Afterwards it was very frustrating to hear the crowd screaming at me. They were saying offensive and racist words.”

Mr Morelos does not use these words anywhere within the extended interview which has been broadcast across Sky’s platforms.

Celtic FC has asked Sky Sports to clarify their position on this matter.

Celtic, a club open to all since its inception, abhors racism. Our consistent stance is that wherever racism exists it should be tackled head on. Celtic will always investigate any report of racist behaviour and take appropriate action. This is a standard which all clubs should meet.

Celtic needs no encouragement to pursue racism, particularly as players and management at the club have suffered abuse persistently over the years. The seriousness of such cases has been confirmed with the prosecution and criminal convictions of some of the perpetrators.

Celtic is proud of the wonderful reputation earned by its supporters over many years in many countries and at home. The club owes it to them to act in a responsible, dignified and professional manner and to treat racism with the seriousness it deserves.

Wasn’t expecting this. But really good statement.

Questions had to be asked, will be interesting to see the answers.

Ah didn't see this here as well..

Excellent statement as I said in the other thread it also highlights nicely what Lenny has had to put up with as well..

We'll 100% be getting an apology or two from Sky at the very least..

The Celtic job is tougher than most though, we need to work to squeeze out every penny of every deal, market ourselves well and make sure everything is running perfectly.

EPL Clubs get money gifted to them, the likes of Everton or Burnely its irrelevant wether Umbro are giving you £2million or £3million a season, they rely solely on the £100-120million they get just for being in the League from TV. All their other income is miniscule and irrelevant. You also don't need to haggle over paying £18million or £23million for someone of £60k or £70k a week.

At Celtic though every penny must be squeezed out of every situation. We need to slowly grow to stay even, we cant go from Nike giving us £5million to just staying the same and being happy, we need to negotiate and push hard for the extra £500k the next time and then an extra £500k the next time. Same with our shirt sponsors. Every extra £1million to us in an extra £1million we can guarentee on the wagebill and another £20k a week player.

If we had any dafty doing the job we'd probably be miles off where we are now, we'd have bent over to big companies only wanting to give us certain amounts, we'd have the * taken out of us more in transfers. Having a well respected guy has probably saved us and earned us £10s of millions over the last 15 years.

When deals come up to be re-negotiated or extended at Celtic we need a guy with the bottle to get more money. If we have a clown who companies think can be exploited Nike for example will come back to us saying we want to extend the deal but we are unhappy at £5million a season, we need a guy who goes to them saying we will accept extending the deal but look how much money you've made we need an extra £1million a season and we need better bonus payments for playing in Europe and whatever if we don't get it we have offers from elsewhere. Thats a tough job and Lawwell we know has the skills, bottle and mentality to do it well as he has done it really well for a long time we are one of the best run clubs in Europe if not best financially given our position. A new guy or a lesser character will be bullied into accepting worse deals scared that if Nike walk away he wont get as good a deal and then he will end up getting sacked.

Yeah as you say., at the very least!

To add the word "racism" in there * nilly is * horrendous. Surely breaches some sort of broadcasting code. Pleading ignorance will not suffice here!

Im also hearing he was on about an episode at Pittodrie and the background picture was Celtic fans at Parkhead at the time... Aberdeen wasn't even acknowledged in the subtitles

Aye it's incredible that this has been given the go ahead and allowed to fester..

His first interview since he's been in Scotland I think and it's been a nightmare and Sky, along with plenty of media outlets....have twisted or ran with it..

There's a Columbian based journo who has tore the interview apart. Can't mind where I watched it but I'll see if I can dig it out. Definitely the sheep were mentioned..
