The sheep wanted more than 5 million for McKenna and he’s an absolute bombscare.

Shankland would cost nowhere near as much and does actually do what he’s paid to do and with frightening regularity.

Take a look at their recent accounts and you'll see it's ticking time bomb, they need £10M just to make it to the end of the season.

£8M the sheep are wanting him, Shankland is well worth the £2M, we spent the same on Bayo.

What I don't understand is why not take him last summer for free and loan him out right away to Dundee United or whoever else? Seemed so obvious teams would be after him.

Just the same as the young centre back that was at Thistle a few year ago, went for cheap down South and we bought * Jack Hendry.

How many would bet on him doing well at Aberdeen, Hibs or Motherwell? I wouldn't.

Diddies have scored for fun at that level before May, Rooney, Cummings etc Stephen Dobbie has been like Messi at that level for about 4 year in his late 30s.

In a league below us. I'm not completely writing him off, but he's not the quality needed to challenge Eddy or Griff. With the additions needed, it's quality more than prospects from the championship.

Didn't Lenny say yesterday that the next 2 players to come in would be experienced, ready to go, first team ready like Elyounoussi? This guy doesn't fit the bill

Celtic scout Tosh McKinlay was in attendance to see Dundee United draw with Hibs at Tannadice.

Lawrence Shankland netted for the home side and he’s previously been linked with the Premiership champions.

Celtic’s head of recruitment Nick Hammond watched Shankland bag a hat-trick against Partick Thistle last week.

The Scotland international has scored 25 times already this season.

For what it'll cost us to get him in, completely worth a punt.

wouldn't shock me if we were looking at his strike partner Appere instead, looks a promising target man type

This is the point i was trying to make last week, United have a few interesting players and their might be other reasons we'd be sending scouts to watch the games. Not just Shankland.

You were suggesting we sign cast offs or players who clearly are nowhere near good enough.

I’m up for signing him as long as we tell him to change his name to a less orange * one.

Even Ulster MacUDA sounds less hunnish.

Much would it seriously take to sign him? Cant argue with is record over the last few seasons, even though its a lower league. He could be another Scot McDonald or Griffiths. Never arrived with much fan fare and most had written them off already. Look at the utter junk we've signed as strikers over the years. Mo bangura? Balde? Is this guy any worse? I wouldn't be adverse to signing him as a back up striker.
