    Tbh I wouldn't mind us scouting players in the Championship if they have the talent to make the jump. Robertson was playing at Queen's Park. Doesn't matter where you come from.

    Allan and Morgan, and I'd put Shankland in there too, are not good enough though.

    And what? Leicester signed Vardy from a non-league club and now he’s PL top scorer by 3 goals. If that rag’s right Shankland’s scored 24 goals already this season - I don’t care what level you play at that’s impressive. Him and a more proven European striker would be class imo

    He also had 2 years developing in the Championship and an underwhelming year in the Premier League while they were battling relegation, before he developed into the striker he is today.

    We don't have 3 years to play guys in the chance they might be top class at the end of it. We need players that can compete for trophies and in Europe immediately.

    Shankland is nowhere near the level we need. There's every chance he could go down to League 1/Championship in England, bang in a few goals and be regarded as a silly money striker but that still wouldn't make our decision wrong. McBurnie went for £20 million in the summer and he's absolutely hoaching.

    Shankland is NOT a Celtic level player, not even a squad player. We have let better go who never made it. We play Thistle next week in the Cup, Hammond will be working under Lennons orders to watch Thistle and report back with any significant things he needs to know about.
