Neil Lennon has hinted that Scott Sinclair’s move to Preston could be a loan deal - despite being out of contract at the end of the season. .

The Celtic boss revealed that the winger will only be signing a deal until the end of the season at Deepdale as he once again heaped praise on the wide man.

Sinclair is one of Celtic’s highest earners and a wage cut would be needed for him to move to Preston on a permanent deal.

But Lennon dropped a huge hint that it wouldn’t be a long term contract for the Englishman.

When asked about Sinclair’s move, he said:

No, it’s until the end of the season. I think Scott wanted to go and play. His game time here is limited but he’s a great lad. He’s a fantastic professional but he was struggling to get into the team and he wants to play more football and Preston have given him that opportunity. We’re sorry to see him go but happ

Looks like as most of us thought they are taking over his contract till it runs out. Good 5 months down there he will get himself a lower epl or top championship club!

Confirmed. 2 and a half year deal. All the best to him, never really recreated his form of his debut season, but still a great player for us none the less.

Good deal for all parties, was clearly done here so massive to get him off the wage bill.

How Morgan and Johnston were preferred to him is an absolute joke imo.
He didn't hit the heights of his first season, but is head and shoulders above some players still at the club.

Him, Dembele and Eddie together would have been * so devastating, Trump would place sanctions on Scotland.

Deserved so much more than how it all ended

Preston North End have today completed the permanent transfer of forward Scott Sinclair from Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

The 30-year-old attacker has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Deepdale and will take the No.31 shirt.

The Bath-born player was a previous EFL Championship player of the year and won the Scottish PFA player of the year in his first season at Celtic Park and has been a key figure in the treble- treble won by the Glasgow giant.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City man has scored 62 goals in 167 appearances for Neil Lennon’s side and also won promotion to the Premier League in England with Swansea City, via the Play-Offs, in 2011.

Speaking about his move to the Lilywhites, Scott said: “I am so delighted to get the deal done. I have been waiting to finally get down here to sign and I can’t wait to get started and to finally meet the lads.
“I spoke to the manager before I came and he spoke about training, about the tactics and I like where the club is heading – he persuaded me to come and I am so happy.
“I have had a fantastic three-and-half-years with Celtic, we did the treble-treble, I got the PFA player of the year, scored goals and was top goalscorer, but now it is a new chapter for me. I am coming here to improve and to help the team push for promotion.”

PNE manager Alex Neil was also very pleased to have concluded the deal, adding: “I am delighted [to sign Scott]. The season until this point has been good, in terms of getting us into that top six contention, but we have needed to strengthen and add a little bit of knowhow and experience in certain areas.

“Scott is someone we have been interested in, and we have coveted before, and now that we have got him across the line, I am hoping that he will add that bit of quality and experience that we need.”

Hope Scotty does well down there.
Been a good pro in the short time he's been here, would've loved to have seen him recapture the form of his first season.

A lot of Celtic fans seem pretty concerned with the wage bill. Pretty bizzare to worry about that when we have got plenty of money at the bank and no inherent need to cut the wage bill. Don’t let Lawwell try to pull the wool over your eyes with that one.

I am more concerned that we have got two wingers in Johnstone and Morgan who are not better than Sinclair along with Elyonoussi who has been nowhere near the level of an on-form Sinclair.

Quite clearly wasn’t fancied but whether that is from the manager or Lawwell is debatable.

I really hope we do not come to regret freezing him out of the team at the end of this season.
