This thread has been a real tonic this week. Especially when I've needed a wee bit of balance back in my life. Getting out and about with nature settles my mood and is even uplifting. I still have a funeral to go to on Friday but this has helped take my mind of it. Watching nature is a solitary pastime and it gives you time to be alone with your thoughts which in my brain flit in and out....bit like the birds me :56:

Couldn't agree more @Jeannie960, this thread is a moment of sanity.

So glad your love for nature has helped you through your very difficult time Jeannie.
At the same time you are doing more than your bit cheering us all up in this Thread of so many lovely people:49:

Thank you for saying so :50: I realized today that I never really noticed a lot of things until I took this up. You're suddenly more aware of your surroundings and the creatures that inhabit them. I never thought I would enjoy walking in the rain :56:

Grim over here at the moment for wildlife, estimated at over 480 million animals died so far in the bushfires. 30% the Koala's range destroyed so their numbers could be down as much as 30%.

    Devastating to see

This is something we can never comprehend, the sheer scale of it is mental. This map puts it into some sort of prospective.

    * it's awful. How can you prevent this from happening again. The only way I can see is to level the land but then the wildlife would have nowhere to return too :54:

Jeannie, so sorry for the loss of your mammy. My own mammy's first anniversary is this Friday. This thread helped me so much during this year which at times was very tough. I felt very accepted here and could park the difficulties for a while. It is fair to say that it gave me a much greater appreciation of life in all its forms and diversity. I hope it helps you too. Will be at Mass on Friday and will remember you then.

Seen some of the pictures and I’m not ashamed to say I cried, yes the human cost is massive but those poor animals suffering breaks my heart.

I was out for a walk today , around a local Darroch ( Scots word for Oak wood ). This wood is famed locally for its Wild Hyacinths , which carpet the place in spring . But today , as you would expect , there was very little greenery about . And probably because of that , I was lucky enough to see a Tree Creeper . Ten years plus since I saw one . The temperature was far higher than normal for early January .

Thanks pal. My wee mum was a Catholic. Sorry to here abut your mum. There's never a right time and when it comes we just have to find a way to deal with it. I'm just taking it day to day and developing an interest in new things. The last 10 years have been all about mum, supporting and supervising her care. She lived with us for 7 years before going into a nursing home 2 years ago. She was on my mind daily when I had to think about who else would visit her from week to week, what she needed, the standard of care she was receiving and communication with a variety of different agencies on her behalf. Now I have all this time and I feel like I should focus on new beginnings. So I've found a new hobby and hopefully I can move forward. Talk Celtic is a great site and I've been on it for over a decade. My focus was always the football and I will always be a fan but it's nice to concentrate on something else. Thanks for your prayers for me wee mum. :49:
