If we’re paying £5-7m for him just now then I think that’ll probably mean Eddie is off in the summer.

 

Theyll tease us with a partnership during preseason where theyll look dynamite together. Then eddy will be off.

 

Realistically he'll be off in the summer irrespective of this deal.

He's given us 3 years excellent service and is one of Europe's best young strikers that's not far away from a call-up to the World Champions international squad. No-one could begrudge him a move.

We need to prepare ourselves for life after Eddie.

14 goals in Europe this season, some against diddy teams but scored against Besiktas, Wolves and Braga with 5 group stage goals. Not surprised they want in the region of £7m. We need some reinforcement up top.

 

Still think Eddie would be better off staying with us another couple of seasons then get his big move, he’s still young. Hopefully get him to commit to an extension

This would be a great bit of business and if eddy goes +35mill in summer we wouldnt be held over a barrell replacing him with the club we are looking to buy from knowing we have cash. Also it would give this guy good few months to bed in and settle rather than landing in summer no doubt a week before a c.l qualifier and be expected to lead the line. Hopefully then afolabi can come through from the youth side of things and we would still have bayo and Griff.

Neil Lennon has conceded in-demand Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar is a transfer option for Celtic.

The Hoops boss talked down his side's interest in the red-hot Slovenian in the aftermath of his side's win over Hibernian last weekend but has now admitted the 25-year-old could be a potential target.



The plot thickened on Thursday when Bratislava chief Ivan Kmotrick claimed Celtic had made a "specific offer" for the man who leads the scoring charts in Slovakia.

But Lennon , who insists no offer has been made, has softened over his previous stance on Sporar.

He said: "We haven't made a bid. We are looking at options going forward but there's been no bid from us.

"He is an option and one of a number we are looking at."

Lennon has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his forward line during the January transfer window.

Star man Odsonne Edouard missed several games due to a "niggle" and Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Bayo have been absent for extended spells during the season.

The lack of options through the middle led to Lewis Morgan being converted into a striker for the Betfred Cup Final clash against Rangers earlier this month

 

I quite fancy him.

I also think he'd be a good signing.

 

Any more than £3-4m for someone who has scored 1 in 20 and 2 in 19 at a decent level is mental. Looks a no bad finisher but the at £7m yer having a laugh IMO.

 

Yep. He's basically deliberately outed that we're trying to sign him to drum up concrete offers elsewhere..

Agreed.

Would be wary, given Bayo tore it up in that league for a weaker team. I know it doesn’t always work like that, but still.

Had he done better at Basel then it would be different.

 

This guy is breaking in to the Slovenian side scoring against decent side's there and in Europe to be fair..

 

Aye he's got a good record in the EL this season, but £7 seems like a massive gamble.

Think there's better value elsewhere..

 

To be fair - Bayo shouldn’t really have surprised many because pretty much all the goals he scored were headers and shots when he didn’t have time to think about it.

There was no evidence he was technically good, or good at holding up the ball. He always looked very raw, - even his manager said it.

Sporar looks far better.

The main worry for me is his time at Basel, although he’s scored a few in Europe and against Poland since then.
