I 100% believe if we had Gordon or Bain in goal, we would not have won the group.

No doubt about that mate. Forster in the 2 Lazio games was a massive factor in us taking 6 points.

Hi, new to the forum, just a thought that we would spend +£9 million for a striker that would rarely produce more than a goal a game average, but maybe Baulk at paying similar amount for a keeper who is saving us conceding that per game...easy

I love Forster, he turns up on the big European nights. He rightfully won his England call up and his name as th Grand Muralla. He's the safest pair of hands we've had at the club in 20 years and beyond.

Contrast our fortunes to Scott Bain, Rodgers wanted him to pass the ball around with Boyata in his own box, getting involved in play. Madness.

Not to belittle Craig Gordon who was signed on a free contract, was 9 million record transfer at the time. And who won a treble treble was Scotland number one for years. Its just a shame he had some shockers in Europe!

Would Forster really have suited Rodgers playing from the back? Players like Boyata would still invite pressure. Forster's long ball distribution is brilliant but would Rodgers have adopted it.
Boruc is the only other high level keeper we have had in the last 25 years. I look at that as being a weakness at the club.

I'd take a 60 yard punt up to Tony Watt against Barcelona to playing out the back any day!

I certainly think we should be willing to spend some real money by our standards to buy Forster permanently next summer if the player wants to stay and is willing to take the pay cut I am assuming he would need to to come back to Celtic. We sold him for 10m in 2014 and if Southampton get relegated I doubt we would have to pay that much to get him back. Maybe close to half that? Certainly would be money well spent if Forster wants to come back and I would be over the moon if we were able to make it happen as he has basically kicked off his second term with us right where he left off in 2014 and been immense for us. At 32 he could easily be playing at this level for the full length of a 4-5 year contract at whatever our max salary is.

He’s made a huge almost immeasurable difference to us.

A big * off foundation that everything has been built on.

Gordon's contract ends this season so we will definitely be getting a new keeper in, an attempt to get Fraser doesn't sound out of this world

Could be the best keeper I've seen at Celtic in my 47 years of following them.

Already been said but this is the difference a real qaulity keeper can have on results.

Without question, the single best bit of business this season.

I have always felt that was the one major flaw during the Martin O'Neil years, never investing in a quality keeper, who knows what that team would have achieved.
