When I see the Palace link I can't help thinking our Southampton link has just been upgraded due to teams really starting to notice if players can play well for Celtic in Europe maybe they can do it for other teams too.

At 21 Eddy is obviously way beyond their level but the Virgil deal must've made a lot of teams look at Southampton and their knowledge that a good Celtic player is a good football player so there will be teams wanting a piece of that huge transfer fee to the big clubs when players 'prove' theirselves in the best league in the world.

But Eddy is demonstrating against good teams in Europe he can play and also for the under 21 French team who would probably give most senior sides a good game.

He's not going to any club that doesn't have a decent chance of competing in Europe, going to a team like Palace, no matter their riches, would be a massive step down from us.

I really hope Rodgers attempt to * over Dembele hasn't made Eddy wary cause as already mentioned, we really could do with another quid pro quo and get him to sign a long term deal so we both benefit from the inevitable transfer coming up soon. It would be amazing if he extended it and stayed another season but if he does go next summer there'll be no complaints, only possible one would not be getting £30m+ for him.

 

Could see him going to Leicester, now a top six side. They are so reliant on Vardy, so would make sense. Am sure BR would pay over the odds for him.

 

Seen sky sports news app transfer centre. And its a celtic player on it again. Eddie. Remember these hun loving * Xmas day couple years ago had Dembele heading to Brighton as well. Bulshit story by the media.

 

No chance Eddy would go to a diddy club like Palace. He'll end up going to Lyon to replace Dembele I think.

 

That is likely I think, they get 60m for dembele, part of that will go to celtic of course and then bring Eddy in. I think Eddy will shine in Ligue 1

 

PSG will buy icardi in the summer. But Lyon is no * move. It will give him European football (they have been * but I think they will climb back up). Them or marseille would be great moves

 

Edouard is playing to a higher standard, more consistently than Dembele was when he moved to Lyon.

If he keeps going the way he has in the next 6 months then there will be bigger clubs than Lyon in for him.

If you're a scout at a major club and you aren't looking at Eddie then you're not doing your job. The guy has it all.

 

I honestly think the champions league goals helped dembele. Eddy however has his u21 record which is sublime. I do think he deserves a big move I'm just not sure he will get it just yet.

 

Dembele already had quite a big reputation when we signed him because he was at Fulham. Eddie went under the radar somewhat. The criminal record didnt help either!

 

Dembele was tremendous in that first season's Champions League but after that didn't do an awful lot for us in Europe.

1 goal in Europe in 17/18 v PSG when they pumped us.

And 2 in 18/19 against Alashkert when we were already 3-0 up on aggregate.

Eddie isn't injured as often and is now delivering time and time again. I hope he doesn't move but you won't find a better all-round striker in Europe for the price that he's likely available at.

 

I understand your point about dembele's 2nd season but people saw that he could do it, which is important and if in a better side would do it again

 

Palace will pay him more than Lyon probably. We laugh at these teams size but just about all the wee EPL teams have made surprising signings. Palace with Max Meyer for example.

I hope when he does go he gets a good move though
