More an Aberdeen type player, and an SPL Dundee United type, not at first base for Celts

Last game I watched him was Alloa away just before his Scotland call up and he was abysmal..

He'll be playing on BT tomorrow against a pishy Dundee defence. Jordan Forster the old Hibs slow pish defender mainly..

It's hard to get a full picture mate as they can't see past his goals, which is fair enough I suppose. A mad league statistic they love is when he doesn't score, Utd lose.

They do say that whilst he bangs them in he does have times when he is very poor, as posters have said. * knows mate, nothing really new to add I'm afraid.

He missed a penalty at 2-0 about 2 months ago against dunfermline(?) which ended up doing me out of 1200 quid on the over 2.5.

    So, pass!

Why slag him off. He may be a good player but is stuck playing for a * team. Coming to Celtic would mean he is surrounded by better players which will, hopefully, help him become an even better player.

Saw him score the second goal in a 2-0 victory in the Dundee derby. Battled his way through and fired a great shot.

Anyone remember the last striker we bought from Dundee Utd? We should be looking at way better than this guy.

Hopefully griff will be back in the next few weeks and bayo depending on the severity of his injury (jury is still out on that one).

I'd rather we used Christie or Mo as emergency options rather than sign shankland for the what would probably be the guts of a million quid plus whatever thousands he'd be getting in wages each week.

For me he's not a celtic class striker, and at 24 the chances of him ever becoming one are slim to none.

... if I remember correctly as well ... Dundee Utd were in the top flight at the time and chasing Aberdeen for 2nd place for a while...

If he was genuinely good enough.. he’d already be at a higher level...

He supposedly had better offers but ‘chose’ Dundee Utd.... probably knows his limits.

Couldn’t see him getting game time for us. Would be a 4th in line at best.....

    ... and he’s a HUN !!!

Goals in lower levels don’t mean much...

He reminds me of somebody like Owen Coyle who was top goal scorer in Scotland for 2 seasons and close to the golden boot in one if Scottish second tier football had ever been paid any attention.

That was pretty much his peak apart from an ok spell at Motherwell.

    I see Shankland like this.

I personally think Coyle could’ve done a job for us, but aye Shankland is at his level or maybe bottom 6 in the top division but that’s it imo.

    This.

Basically Kris Boyd. He’ll score goals against lower level teams but as soon as he’s up against decent opposition and he needs to run off players, go by someone or open up a defence with a piece of magic linking up he’s completely lost.

Even at times in the Championship he looks like he’s never seen a football before.

Couldn’t agree more - decent poacher but a Celtic team needs their striker to do more than just get on the end of things, Edouard a prime example

Nicky Hammond watched him today at Firhill according to the sun!

If Celtic think this is the guy to backup Edoaurd then we might as well give up.

have we not learnt from Allan and Morgan the last few years!

    * embarrassing club our size scouting Dundee Utd players in the championship!

the optimist in me hopes he was just watching thistle on a remit from lenny ahead of the match next week!
