We've got some excellent talent coming through, honestly wouldn't surprise me if Okoflex, Dembele, Harper and O'Connor are all first choice for us in 3 years

Really like the look of Afolabi, looks strong and skilful..

OkoFlex too very consistent, can’t be too far away from a first team outing.

FORMER ACADEMY STAR RETURNS TO THE WARRIORS

New First Team Manager Davie Irons has moved swiftly to bring in his first signing of his second reign in charge of the Warriors.

Connor McBride, an 18 year old forward has joined on loan from Celtic. It will be a return to where it all started for Connor as he was part of the Warriors community programme from the age of 8 before progressing into the Stenhousemuir FC Academy at Under 10s. McBride then spent a couple of seasons in the Celtic Academy before coming back to Ochilview for the Under 12 Academy season. Connor then progressed through the Forth Valley Football Academy programme and graduated after the U17 season to sign his first professional contract with Falkirk FC at the age of 16.

After a spell in the Bairns U20 squad McBride once again moved to Celtic where he signed a full-time contract with the Scottish Champions. Schooled locally Connor is also a graduate of the Scottish FA Performance School at Graeme High School. He also has 12 youth international caps to his name having represented Scotland at U17 level including notching a winner against Croatia on his debut. The 18 year old will join on an initial loan until Janaury 2020 and will be available for selection starting from our home match vs Cove Rangers on the 5th October.

Irons, commented on his new recruit:

‘Thanks to Celtic for the opportunity to bring him in. We hope we can continue to play a positive role in his development for the benefit of Connor, Stenhousemuir and Celtic. He is local lad and someone well known to the Club, we hope that young people in the area can relate to him and enjoy coming to see him play for his local team’

    Welcome to the Warriors Connor.

CELTIC continued their winning run in the Reserve Cup with a hard-fought but well-deserved 1-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park

Cameron Harper scored the only goal of the game for the Hoops, who have now won all three of their cup fixtures – having previously beaten Dundee and Morton 4-2 in each game.

After some frantic early exchanges, it was Tommy McIntyre’s side who fashioned the first clear-cut chance after 18 minutes, with Harper’s low shot blocked by the Dunfermline defence and then gathered by goalkeeper, Ryan Scully. And moments later, David McKay came close with a header.

On 23 minutes, Celtic got the breakthrough. Scott Robertson delivered a free-kick into the area, and when the Pars keeper failed to hold on to it, Harper was first on hand to tap the ball into the net.

Chances remained at a premium for the remainder of the half, with Armstrong Oko-Flex’s free-kick blocked by the wall, while the home defence had to be alert to clear a Liam Burt corner just before the break.

Into the second half, and Karamoko Dembele was denied by the crossbar from doubling Celtic’s lead, with his free-kick crashing back off the woodwork.

Dunfermline looked to try and find a way back into the game but found the Hoops resolute in defence, while Harper almost scored his second of the afternoon in the 70th minute, but this time he was denied by Scully, who produced a good save.

Sixty seconds later, and Harper did have the ball in the back of the net, but this time the offside flag which denied him another goal.

Oko-Flex and Dembele combined well to create a chance on 83 minutes, but the latter’s effort just went over the bar.

It was to be the final chance, with the Hoops seeing out the game comfortably to win 1-0.

CELTIC: Mullen, O’Connor, Paterson, Church, McKay, Coffey, Dembele (McBride 89), Robertson (Mazis,61), Harper, Burt (Savoury 81), Oko-Flex.
    Subs: Hughes, McRobb, Wylie
