Doubly raging as I have just lit a smoke bomb in my living room to build up to the match and after this bombshell I'll now be listening to it on the radio.

Hopefully I don't need to fiddle about with aerial...all I can see is smoke.

the real profits are in the CL but yet again the club didn't see the urgency in signing players. Celtic TV aint gonna fix that shortfall.

But if they want to block streams then they definitely have the right team in doing it.

Subscribing is hardly appealing given that it's audio only.

OK I'm based in Ireland and cannot afford to head over to Glasgow for every home game, but I would gladly pay a tenner to watch the game if Celtic TV would relax their stance on it, likewise for mid-week games when the possibility of thousands of Irish fans travelling over would be even more remote.

I have to agree with people celtic are the best in Europe at blocking streams no other club is as strict on this as us, they where trolling fans for weeks right up to kick off then bang it went off.

they where so strict it actually cut paying customers abroad off aswell!

    Imo Celtic are being *!

They are worried about the pound not their “broadcast licence” as they claim however they are failing to maximise their money imo as not everyone can make a 3pm kick off or home matches.

This harks back to this gentlemen’s agreement with the football associations that there is no live football on TV at 3pm on saturdays - it isn’t on tv it’s streamed is my argument.

most people even in the uk would pay to watch the matches on a PPV basis, some will say that stops people going to the matches well when you consider someone going to match its £27 to watch Ross county (plus £2.30 for the joy of you using your ink and printer to print) you can see why people would just watch it on tele if they could not to mention the cost of getting there and then something to eat/drink then paradise windfalls etc

we are stuck in the dark ages in the UK in terms of football, every basketball game, American football game are always on the TV all over the world at any time.

There’s defo scope for making Celtic TV more accessible, it’s difficult know what kind of effect every home game being available on TV would have on attendances tho. Maybe not immediately but it could have a longterm effect..

But, until that happens they can’t be blamed for clamping down on illegal sites, streaming their footage. Even if it does stop the likes of you and me seeing every game that we can’t attend.

At present our biggest income stream is season books.

Even if you priced Celtic TV at £200 per year (which I'm sure some would moan about as excessive) it would decimate the season book uptake, cup tickets, food & drink revenue etc.

If you're a family of 4, going to the game just now then all 4 books probably equate to around £1200-1500 and that's before Cup Tickets, European games, matchday revenue. I think plenty would give the season books a bye in that scenario and watch every game from the comfort of their home. 1 subscription would save them over £1500 over the course of a season.

Then if you consider guys getting the ferry over from Ireland. Season book will be anywhere between £450-650, European games £150-200, Cup games £50-200 transport to games is maybe £25-40 for every game, swally money, scran. I reckon some would save themselves plenty time and money going with Celtic TV in that scenario as well.

It's not an ideal system present but I don't know what else they can do. If we're trying to keep pace with European teams with vastly superior TV deals then we can't implement something that could wipe millions of £s off our revenue each year.

We can’t broadcast in Britain or Ireland due to Broadcast rights. It’s as simple as that, we can abroad

What does that actually mean , why can't we relax the constrictions in place, I just don't understand.

The SPFL sells the rights to their matches, the Cups sell the rights to their matches, Europa League/Champions League sell the rights to theirs.

We don’t own the rights to our games, they’re sold as a package to broadcasters. We would need to outbid Sky/Bt/Premier Sports etc. to be able to broadcast in the UK and its a similar situation in Ireland. We can broadcast abroad though.

I'm really struggling to grasp this, if Celtic have to purchase the rights to broadcast their own home games from presumably the SPL then surely it is still the club that puts the restrictions on the coverage and not the SPL ??

No, in the UK and Ireland we can’t sell the rights to indvidual games. It is sold as the right to broadcast the SPFL or the Betfred Cup etc.
It’s the competition that’s being sold, that we happen to be part of.
