    It’s difficult to compete with a nation galvanised by tragedy literally hours before.

    We have to try, no pun intended, but it’s a massive uphill task. Be as well just throwing the kitchen sink at it from the odd this 2nd half.

    They get the ball and there's 2 or 3 men around supporting. We get it attacking just outside their 22 and we are isolated and no one looks like they really want it..

    Fair play to Japan. Not doing anything at all fancy - just playing quick, solid, basic, disciplined rugby.

    It's a wee bit embarrassing as there's been gushing about Scotlands clever play, their mercurial players, their fastest style of rugby, etc. but the truth is, we just can't cope with a solid team doing the Rugby basics.

    But this is no secret - Ireland play a solid basic game, and they pretty much school us every time we meet. GT's time is surely coming to an end.
