Now I see why Celtic put that in before he’s doing his Press conference.

And now I see why it’s any article.

Neil Lennon has told Hibs to forget about trying to prise John Kennedy away from Parkhead.

The Celtic boss admitted he’s not shocked to see the Easter Road club sticking the Hoops coach on their short list for land the manager’s gig.

Kennedy is a target for the Leith men, along with Motherwell’s Stephen Robinson , ex-St Mirren boss Jack Ross, recently sacked Stoke manager Nathan Jones and Liverpool legend Harry Kewell.

Hibs are expected to make their move this week but Lennon has no intention of letting his trusted lieutenant leave the building as Kennedy has a major role to play on his coaching staff.

The Celts gaffer said: “I don’t want him to go but it doesn’t surprise me there’s talk because he’s a superb coach.

It’s a feather in John’s cap if that’s the case but as far as I’m concerned he won’t be going anywhere because he’s an integral part of what we do here.”

    Interesting one..

Don't think he'd go. Was vital when Lenny came in as interim last season..

See him a lot off the bench infront game's or if a goal goes in he's getting thing's across. Was doing it in Rome...til the winner went in :giggle1:

He deffo fancies the main job here at some point i think..

Lenny should be telling Kennedy to stay well clear of hibs after the way they treated their manager who got them promotion and European qualification.

Would be a difficult decision but it’s no doubt a good opportunity to cut his teeth as a boss..

I think he may take it.

If he were to do well at Hibs, it may give him a better chance of becoming our no1 in the future.. I’d certainly like to see what he was like as a Boss before putting our faith him as our No1 in the future.

Don’t get me wrong don’t want to lose him, just think if he’s any ambition of being his own boss, Hibs are a good opportunity.

I can’t see it.. both Edinburgh jobs are poison at the moment and things could quickly go aot...

He will have plenty opportunities once ‘project 10’ is completed.

    Would be a big miss

By all accounts he does alot of the tactical and analysis stuff behind the scenes. The players seem to love him too

If he’s confident he’s good enough to be a Celtic manager one day then he should jump at it and prove himself.

Doubt he’ll go for it though.

I don't see anywhere that Hibs have asked permission to speak with JK or that celtic have given it or declined it !!

Kennedy probably has a better chance of becoming the Celtic manager if he continues in his current position.

Don't know if it's true or not, but i think it would be a mistake if he were to take the Hibs job or any other at this point in time, he's still learning and is in a good position as no 2 at Celtic.

    Fair points mate..

Might be a bit early for him just now. Still only cutting his teeth with first team coaching for about what, 3 year or so?

Would be a bold move by him but i imagine he'll stay. He was the glue last season and so much so that Lenny brought none of his own men in this season in the backroom staff. He's obviously a big part of our success and no to mention he turned down the snake at Leicester where he would've no doubt been on significantly more in the EPL..

We will absolutely do what we can to keep him here if he was even contemplating it i think..

Lennon is more important to the defence than Kennedy is, for me.
If we could get Johan Mjallby back in his place i wouldnt have any qualms.
but on the whole id prefer not to have that disruption and that he stay for now.

Hes not just in charge of the defence why do people still think this?

Hes involved in tactics and analysis

Weve moved on alot since then dare I say we have a more modern approach now and kennedy has the experience of working under ratboy. I think he contributes to more behind the scenes than people think

Mjallby also wants to manage his own team does he not?

I like Kennedy. Came in for criticism under the rat for our defensive frailties, but I feel under lenny you can he has come much more into a tactical sense rather than just defense.

Still utterly gutted how his career ended.
He could still be at the heart of our defense.

And now in another way....he still is.
