Not to say whoever played in his place would score no goals. But it shows you important a match-winner he is for us.

He does seem genuinely injured but need to wait and see no pressure on the guy just stay healthy

I think that what we should take from it is that he's recovering well from a knock, but like most humans has come down with the occasional bout of flu...

No need to be dumping unnecessary fuel on a candle of a flame...

Hope the wee man is OK, I thought he was looking decent in his comeback.

We really could do with him. Eddie can't play every game, Bayo looks promising but we know Griff guarantees goals

I’d imagine he won’t be back until after the international break at this point.

Neil Lennon insists he will not send Leigh Griffiths on loan as he lifted the lid on his injury woe.

The Celtic boss is hoping the striker will be in the reckoning for his first team squad by the end of the month. Lennon was left short of cover for the Europa League clash with Cluj on Thursday with no strikers on the bench in the absence of suspended Vakoun Bayo.

That raised eyebrows among Hoops fans over the status of Griffiths, who has faced mental health battles in recent months.

Lennon explained he is fighting physical fitness issues, but will not be shipped out in January to give him game time.

He said: “Leigh won’t go on loan in January. He’s too good a player. He just needs more time to get up to speed.

“Leigh isn’t fit just now. He’s had a thigh strain and is starting back training. He had a virus that kept him out of the squad for Hibs and isn’t fit enough at the minute to figure.

“That’s where we are. He needs to do a bit more cardio work, so he’s not in the squad at the minute because he’s working back from that injury.”

Griffiths, 29, hasn’t featured since the 3-1 victory over Hearts at Parkhead on August 25.

He did fine when he came back and then it dipped but that happens, it’s natural. After that, he had the injury and he’s not fit enough to play.

“There is always a chance of players getting niggles but because Leigh has had that sabbatical, he’s finding it hard to maintain the fitness standards. In a few weeks he will be fit and firing.”

He’d be a Godsend just now in all honesty, the striker position is now where we are lightest with him out.

Bayo was suspended last night and suddenly we have zero options.
