Typical thoughts by us as fans that this is to good to be true kinda feel he will have a nemesis team in europe ,but that's the pessimism that tends flow when following Celtic.

It could be serendipity, Lenny seems to have a squad of players happy with each other and their place in it.

Other than that I agree, it's amazing how such an assured and intelligent player can have passed so many by for so long, he's even got great feet and any defender with skill usually catches the eye.

Hatem Abd Elhamed reckons his Celtic career is ready to take off now his four-year-old son Mohamed has jetted into Glasgow to join him.
The Israeli international has enjoyed a sparkling start to life at Parkhead with impressive displays both at home and in European competition.
However, while it has been plain sailing on the park, Elhamed has been unable to enjoy it in person with his loved ones.

Having dropped everything to sign for the Scottish champions from Hapoel Beer Sheva two months ago, the 28-year-old’s wife Mnar and son were unable to immediately join him in Scotland.
Elhamed has been waiting ever since to welcome them to his new base.

Now he’s done so after his wife and boy completed the permanent journey from Israel to meet up after his return from the Europa League trip to Rennes.

The right-back reckons he’ll kick on now after the emotional reunion.

He said: “I haven’t been home yet and that has been tough.
“My wife and son came over after the Rennes game and it’s the first time that I’d seen them for two months.

“This is the first time they have come across in that period and I’m very happy for that.

“It is very important. To not be with them for such a long time was very difficult, especially for my son.
I am happy that things have now changed and we are together. My son is four years old. He has the full Celtic kit now and is beginning to understand things.

“I FaceTimed him every day and it was emotional for me. I really wanted to get them to Glasgow, to pick them up from the airport.

“My son, my family, are everything for me. The emotions are very big. I was really happy they came to Glasgow.

“This will help me to be more happy and focused on the games.”
If Elhamed does improve on his opening weeks at Parkhead, it will be a huge bonus for boss Neil Lennon.

The £1.6million capture has made a splendid start to his time in the Hoops.
Along with new signings such as Christopher Jullien, the Celtic backline has solidified with outstanding efforts against Rangers at Ibrox and Rennes in Brittany.

Elhamed will face Kilmarnock today full of confidence on the park as well as happy off it.

He said: “It was important to start well and get my confidence.

“At a new club in new competitions, a new challenge, I am very happy.

“I want to keep going and get better and better every week.

“Rennes was a very positive result for us away from home.
In the first half especially I felt we played some really nice football and created some chances.

“Second half we defended well and prevented Rennes from getting any good chances while we scored. It was a good point for us.

“We are the backline and when you play together for a longer time you look better and you have improved communications, a better connection with each other.

“I certainly think we look better with every game and we share our work at the back. We speak a lot during the games.

“You could see this in the last couple of league games against Rangers and Hamilton where we didn’t concede.

“And I don’t remember really good chances for Rennes.

“We look better from game to game and we want to keep this going.

“We are a big club. We are Celtic so we need to go with the attitude that we are a good team and want to do really great things in Europe. I hope we can do it.”

Elhamed has quickly made his way into the hearts of the Celtic fans with his performances and bravery.

The defender was a stand-out at Ibrox at both right-back and centre-half despite playing with the pain and discomfort of a hairline fracture in his foot.

As well as in Scotland, Elhamed is also finding new-found fame in his homeland.

Attention on his move to Celtic has been huge and he accepts he’s viewed in a
different light in Israel these days, having also started for the national team against Macedonia and Slovenia earlier this month.

He said: “I signed for Celtic then I played games for the national team.

“So, for sure, Celtic have helped me a lot in my career.

“It was a very important move for me and I did a lot to come here. I am very glad to be with Celtic. Now I recognise it was a very good decision.

“Sure there is more interest in me. When you are a Celtic player they look at you differently and you get more respect.”
