Glad he's getting some recognition and the comments in the summer haven't harmed him.

I thought so. From his goal hit the back of the net v the filth. From then I knew he’d better feet and vision than big Dembele. Two different types of strikers but Eddy is special.

I'm still struggling to get my head round the fact that Congerton actually had a hand in this. Granted it just shows that he can recognise amazing talent when it is shoved under his nose by the scout concerned; but TBH even that was more than I was prepared to credit him with.

Fair play to him on that. Scratch the zero. He had one good signing in 3 years.

It's a pretty standard response from him but it gives slight comfort nonetheless.

We all know he wont be here forever. I'd love if we could keep him at least until January 2021...but then again by that stage youd be wanting him to stay and see out the 10.

By all accounts - this was through Lawwell contacts, not Congerton.

That's what I thought too, mate; but that article above (quoted below) says it was Congerton.

Mind you, no quotes or source for that assertion now that I think about it. Could just be standard lazy journalism.

Media reports of interest from other clubs is what I was thinking.

If we got £25m plus then I think Celtic would spend £7 to 10m on a replacement. I think Celtic can concentrate on fewer positions next summer as we won't be looking at rebuilding a defence. There are some good strikers out there for under £10m and ones that would spread havoc in our league

ODSONNE EDOUARD has shrugged off speculation over his future and insisted he’s in no rush to move on from Celtic.

Serie A giants Napoli are the latest European big name to be linked with a move for the £30million-rated France Under-21 striker.

Borussia Dortmund are also understood to be monitoring the 21-year-old, after watching him in action for club and country.

But Edouard, named Ladbrokes Premiership Player of the Month for August, has vowed he’s happy and settled in Scotland

And he insists he’s in no hurry to exit the club and follow in the footsteps of the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and pal Moussa Dembele.

He said: “Each player has his own career, his own path.

As far as I’m concerned, at the moment I am here and I’ve got a long contract — I’m really enjoying what I’m doing.

“I just want to keep making sure I enjoy playing for Celtic and then we’ll see what happens. But there is no plan, if you like

Asked if he pays any notice to the transfer talk, Edouard added: “Of course, you do pay attention — because it’s a sign that you’re playing well. That’s important.

“But at the moment I’m 100 per cent focused on Celtic.

“There is a long season ahead so the priority has to be that you concentrate on what you do now, not what may happen in the future.

Celtic supporters are desperate for Edouard to stay at the club and help win ten in a row.

But he added: “Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.

“We still have this season to come and we will see what happens at the end of it.

“Then we can talk about what might happen after that.

We’ll see how it goes. Will I be here for that? I have a long contract, so we’ll see.

“Of course, I’m very aware of how important this is for Celtic.

“This is my third season here so I have been part of this and I want to be part of it because it’s really important for me as well to achieve that.”

Edouard dedicated his Player of the Month award to his Celtic team-mates.

He added: “I am pleased. It is always nice to be recognised. But it’s not just about me, it’s about my fellow players and the team.

“Five wins in five games doesn’t come from me, it comes from the team performance

I’m in good form but not the best of my life. There is still more to come.

“The important thing for me now is to continue in the same vein and even carry it on from where I am at the moment.”

Good. Let’s get the big man tied down and protect our investment as much as possible.

He speaks very sensibly and genuine because his situation is different from Moussa's.

We paid £600k for Moussa on the obvious understanding a two year shop window was mutually beneficial. There is no gamble with that kind of money.

£9m is totally different and he was at PSG not Fulham so he knows we spent that money cause we believe in him and there is no time frame involved.

I just hope we turn down the £30+ we get offered next summer if he's consistent this season because there has to come a time when all this Victor Virgil Moussa KT money has diminishing returns for us and Eddy is young enough to be worth more in two years.

I don't mean prevent players leaving if they wish, just forgetting the immediacy of profit if they're happy to stay.

No matter how much they have or all the players, PSG will be kicking themselves.

I dont think players of his type are forced out of our club, its only players who wish to leave who are marketed by the club ,if he wants to stay the club would try to give him a deal that is in our budget and comes as close to his requirements as possible.
