I know no player chooses to be injured and this sort of situation is extremely painful (sometimes literally) to the guy but *, this is really frustrating.

Could see him leaving in January, no longer first choice CB and probably behind Bitton too.

Sicknote. Frustrating as he usually looks decent after a sustained run of games but it's becoming clear he'll never stay fit long enough. One we should be actively looking to replace. A CB a priority in January.

With Bitton playing a stormer at Ibrox and Elhamed capable of filling in I can't see a future for Jozo here. Clear ability but always injured. Get rid.

Wouldn’t he miss Hamilton anyway with it being artificial turf?

They love to make out like every injury we have is a disaster.

Too injury prone and behind Bitton & ElHam in pecking order.
So I would punt, along with Hendry. Going forward, would be better long term to start blooding some of the like of the guys we brought in from Manchester.

With him out back four of boli, jullien, elhamed and Bauer against Hamilton? Fairly solid

Let's hope this investigation of his knee gets an answer to the problem and he's fully fit soon.

Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic is to have surgery on his knee that could rule him out for the next six matches.

The centre-back saw a specialist on Friday and has been booked in for a clean-up operation.

The 25-year-old hasn’t played for Celtic since the Europa League first-leg win over AIK on August 22.

Neil Lennon told Celtic TV: "Jozo's in for surgery. He's going to have a clean-out in the knee, an arthroscopy it's called.

Although no prognosis has been given, an arthroscopy results in less of a layoff than were a more traditional operation.

Luis Suarez had the procedure just before the World Cup in 2014 but recovered in time for Uruguay’s second group game against England.

Specialist surgeon Adrian Wilson explained the practice a few years ago and revealed a player can be back at full pelt within a "few weeks".

Simunovic will at least miss Celtic’s Europa League group stage opener against Rennes on Thursday. Lennon will again pair Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer at the heart of his defence in France.

Despite the absence of Simunovic and more recently Bitton, Celtic's new-look defence has had some encouraging signs in recent weeks with new signings Boli Bolingoli and Christopher Jullien settling into life in Glasgow and Hatem Abd Elhamed fit again.

Celtic have kept three clean sheets in their last five games and Lennon hopes to continue that trend in France along with another one, which has seen his team score in all 14 competitive matches this season.

He is injury prone and a bit of a bombscare at times. He can be a good option though. I'd look to get him replaced with someone younger and not so injury prone.

Bauer will be getting a few game's starting at right back then with Elhamed sitting out on the bench I think..

O'Connor has a good chance as well of early minute's with Jozo and Bitton out..

Just read on videocelts that jozo has only started 64 league games since joining in 2015, that's terrible, especially in a CH where you want them putting their body on the line while being a regular. I had high hopes for jozo when he joined but if anyone offered serious money or actually anything over £3m and we should pay his airfare

Maybe, but I think Hatem is more likely to start at RB and move into CB if it becomes necessary, with Bauer coming on at RB.
