    CELTIC are chasing a deadline day move for Man City’s teenage right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

    SunSport understands the Hoops are poised to land the Dutch-born 18-year-old in a permanent deal.


    Frimpong has been at City for three years but could move to Parkhead before the window shuts tonight.


    The versatile full-back can also play on the left and is known for his pace and powerful running.



    He was part of the City under-23 side that reached the quarter-final of the EFL Trophy last season.


    Frimpong was also a key member of the under-18 team that lost to Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup final.

    Celtic have already signed Southampton teen Jonathan Afolabi and Bolton’s 18-year-old Luca Connell this summer as they build for the future

    Jeremie forced his way into the U18s squad last season, whilst just 16-years-old and went on to become a mainstay of the side.

    That's something which has continued under Gareth Taylor's tutelage this season, with the Dutch-born defender making the right berth his own.

    A truly modern full back who can play on both sides of the pitch, Jeremie is comfortable in attack and defence and is always willing to overlap his winger and provide an attacking outlet.

    Better to come here and start playing at 19/20 than to stay at Man City being sent about on loan for 2/3 years as they try to add to your value and punt you for £5million.

    He will go into the development squad I'd imagine. That squad is looking good aswell with connel, Henderson, wee dembele, afolabi, okoflex and now hopefully this wee guy

    Said before that although he's helping out over there I thought Elhamed was going to be a CB for us. This guy could possibly be back up to Bauer at RB, and cover at LB. Get another LB in, Bitton hopefully back at CB before long. Suddenly all our shortcomings at the back evaporates

    These are the kind of deals I think we should be looking at more. Young guys with potential with a view to playing them a year or so down the line, but capable of filling in now at a pinch. And not on a * loan.

    Think the likes of Damien Duff is doing a lot of work with the younger players. He was apparently unreal at shamrock rovers underage team. Couple that with a really strong group of underage talent futures looking bright

    Wouldn't mind this at all, a young guy playing as backup will be hungry to break through and create some great competition for places. Must have had something about him for City to pick him up initially.
