    His contract expires in 2022, he would be going back with 2 years left at Southampton after his loan here ends.

    We’ll certainly not be coughing up £50k per week for him, so it will really come down to what he wants to do in the twilight of his career. Stay as 2nd/3rd choice at Southampton or come here and play regularly, chase the 10 (hopefully) etc

    At £50k a week and 3 year left on deal I doubt we would pay half of that for him.

    As I said reactive loan deal suits all parties

    He's apparantley on £55-70k a week at Southampton with 3 years of his contract left. He probably won't leave them unless he gets a good pay off.

    I am not a fan of bringing ex players back, it usually doesn't work out, add in he's played about 1 game in 2 years and before that, what I last saw of him, he was looking a shadow of the keeper he was before his injuries and I can't get excited about this. I'll be happy if he turns out great, I just get the feeling that is unlikely. I suppose I should just be happy we are bringing someone in.

    Seriously though I agree with you. On the 2 years to build up I would hope, as he is more experienced now that wouldn't be an issue.
    Overall good signing and thank * he was prepared to accept wages of 250 quid a week.
