They knew before season ended KT was off, no forward planning and Lenny needs to stand up to Lawwell and come out in public and say so to gain the respect of the support again

Still canny believe we lost out on Perraud because Lawwell wanted the KT money upfront instead of a couple of million in instalments.

Now we’ve resorted to scouting a midget who can’t run.

Play the balance sheet at left back, obviously.

It was scrunched up into a ball , Pete played keeppy uppy ( max 2 ) and was then volleyed into the bin with the manager applications …. where it will gather dust forever .

You think Lennon is in control of the money, negotiations etc?
Have you ever thought hes probably been told he will get the money to spend or the club will bring players in etc and they have let him down, similar to countless years before ?

That looks exactly what is going on but he does himself and the support a disservice if he doesn't come out and let us know that's what is happening.

He should not be covering up for the board's incapability or unwillingness to get deals done.

I don't think the 'worst case scenario' ever included us being pumped out of Europe by Cluj in the 3rd round.

Without Champions league football our attractiveness plummets. And if you're a footballer looking at possible signing for us, you're gonna wait to see if we qualify for the Europe league first.

Because if Celtic want you, then others clubs probably also want you, and those clubs may also have champions league football or europa league football. European footy isnt Celtic's only pull factor, players also respect our reputation etc, but without european football no one is coming to parkhead.

We're not signing anyone until the AIK games are done

Definitely or he might understand more than us, how big a rebuilding process the scouting network is. I'm not sure?

In an ideal world it would be great if he could but he's hardly going to come out and bad mouth the board a few months into a new job, with two weeks left of the window.
You know how Lawwell's ego works and it never worked out great when the rat done it, although that was obviously under different circumstances.

I don't see why he wouldn't. He's taken on the task of leading us to 9 and 10 in a row, the holy grail for most supporters. If this goes * up due a lack of investment and he hasn't made the board an ultimatum, then it's his neck on the chopping block. It's his future managerial career that will be severely impacted by that.

Having left the first time round due to a lack of investment and waiting a week to confirm his acceptance of the offer, he should have been setting conditions that he was accepting the job under. If those haven't been met then make it clear publicly that he wants (x players, in y positions, he has done his part in notifying the board and it's now in their hands to conclude the deals)

If it causes friction between himself and Herr Lawwell then so be it, he should be being forthright with him too.

If he's being told to trot out the same old tired lines we've heard from the board about "we're trying very hard", "it's a difficult market", "we need to offload players first" and he's actually doing it for them, then he will have went down in my estimations.

That's not what he was talking about, though. It was 100% apparent in the context of the interview that "worst case scenario" was Tierney leaving. Which he did, and we have proceeded to do absolutely nothing since.

Refusing to strengthen when weakened (Tierney leaving) and going backwards (early CL exit) is setting up for further future failure.

I would love it to happen mate but I think it's naive to think it could be done in public this early in his new position.
    It could backfire big time.

It could also backfire big time if he doesn't do it.

He's not arrived into that position blind, he's worked with the board and known how they operate, he knew he was going to be losing some big players and knew there was money in the bank to be spent. If they have reneged on promises made to him when he took a week to accept our offer and he doesn't utter a peep then he's only hurting himself in the long run, if things go Pete Tong.

Yeh, 'worst case scenario' in the context of the interview was indeed Tierney leaving and who would replace him.

However, Lennons 'worst case scenario' and which players they had lined up to replace him would have been players they believed would be interested in joining our club, naturally.

For example, his worst case scenario would be if Tierney left we would sign x or y player who we've scouted, spoken to their clubs and have a rough idea they would be interested in joining.

I'm saying that going out to Cluj meant that those options disappeared and our Tierney replacement plans went out the window. Which is why we (a) havent signed anyone (b) are apparently scouting Greg Taylor.

I imagine that if we get through the AIK games and other sides like Rosenborg drop into the europa then we might look to sign Meling etc who are more likely to be attracted for x and y reasons listed in the previous post.

Think we will profit from his inclusion in the squad.
