    Celtic say they are "astonished" that club ambassador Tom Boyd is being investigated by the compliance officer for his comments about referee John Beaton.

    The former defender was commentating on Celtic TV for the League Cup game against Dunfermline at the weekend, and was incensed when the official didn't award a penalty for an apparent handball.


    "What does John Beaton not know about the new rules?" Boyd said.

    "If he doesn't know that's a penalty he shouldn't be in the middle of a park refereeing a football game.

    "He'll probably be welcome down his pub tonight again."

    That has left to an investigation from SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte, but the club insist they will fight any charge



    We have had absolutely no contact from the SFA in relation to this matter and, given the context and circumstances in which the comments were made, would be astonished if the matter were to be progressed," a statement said.

    "If it is, then we will respond robustly."

    The Hun cretin Beaton should never be allowed to ref any of our games. I recall the Scum wanting Gollum banned from any hun games.

    They've started early and in a way I didn't see coming, predicted we'd see Lenny having a few touchline bans further into the season and getting accused of bringing the game into disrepute if we dared question it, but going after a commentator on a club/fan channel is so * desperate, SFA are an absolute joke.

    Just suppose (I know this is an extreme stretch of the imagination) there was a referee called Alphonsus O’Neill who had refereed a Glasgow Derby and he had made some debatable, nay contentious, decisions which benefitted Celtic during a game they won by a narrow score line. Imagine the furore over the decisions in the media?
    Now, try to imagine their indignation and call to arms if the bold Alphonsus was photographed that very evening stopping for selfies and drinking in The Brazen Head amongst Celtic supporters?

    The SFA showed their hand when they where asked about “anyone but Celtic” they declined to answer the claims and they also failed to raise any libellous action.

    These * are being found out and it will only get worse!
