Director of Football should ideally be a Celtic legend IMO. Someone who is engrained in our style of play, our way of working and our emphasis on our Academy and polishing young gems for profit.

Don’t have anyone that instantly jumps to mind but that would be the profile we should look at.

Over and above that, we need long term commitment off them because they’ll be the glue that keeps everything together as the managerial, coaching and playing staff turns over.

Nah just a waste of a wage imo, also there is the potential for conflict with the manager.

I'd rather we had a proper recruitment/scouting set up instead.

John Park built up an unbelievable network.

We had scouts in set regions

    Scandinavia
    Latin Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy)
    Eastern block (Ukraine, Croatia, Serbia)
Central Europe (France, Belgium, Austria, Germany)
    Asia
    USA

We didn’t have a set UK scout, if someone came up we went and watched them a few times from the analysis team.

Rodgers maybe increased the professionalism in the actual football department as for the scouting well he * that!

Congerton comes in and brings 3 scouts to UK and leaves one covering the WHOLE of Europe!

That was the biggest * up of them all.

We need to get back to the Park method which apparently Hammond is trying to do!

Ajax didn’t find it a waste of a wage or have any conflict as Champions League semi-finalists last season!

If done properly, it’s not only feasible but completely essential with the high volume of staff turnover at football clubs.

Personally I’d be looking to bring in someone like Lars Lageraback as a DOF. His education in political science and pedagogy, huge world football knowledge and experience, connections in countries where we would do well in the markets and his keenness to always look to adopt that teams(mostly in his case) countries style of play.

Lagerback understands smaller nation limitations yet has still dealt with world class players. He’s a stellar name in world football and we could be doing with a guy like that to draw from before he eventually calls it a day being 71.

A five year plan is banged on about with the board, someone like him who also isn’t unfamiliar with Celtic could help build some back ground footballing stability, develop a strong scouting network and youth to senior strategy.

Getting Larsson Snr and Jnr back here in some capacity would be a boon also :77:
We’ve had strong Swedish connections for some years and would like to see that continue.

If Nicky Hammond is going to be the man long term then this would be a belter of a mentor to assist with that.

When the elite clubs are doing it, and achieving success with that model, we can't resist it at this point. There's far too much for just the first team manager to deal with, and also the problems that can cause. A DoF gives us continuity, a working strategy, and allows the manager to focus on purely the first team football. Plus it puts Lawwell back in the boardroom where he should be.

Lagerbäck can be our manager, nevermind DoF!

If we are talking about continuity then it would need to be some one who's experienced but got plenty of years to give he also needs experience in economics and business as much as he has experience in football
