    Pretty much this.

Animation wise, or CGI wise (whatever you want to call it) was fantastic.

Story is literally word for word the same as the cartoon.

    * knows why they decided to make the wee meerkat a blatant flamboyant homosexual, but between that, the * that does the simba voice and aye the totally cringeworthy beyonce as the lioness (actually just shook ma head when she said "lions attack!" at one point, beside her equally cringeworthy over the top warbling duet of * knows ant even remember what it was, circle of life or some pish) it's * garbage.

    Horrible Histories - Rotten Romans

Anyone familiar with the kids' TV show on BBC will be familiar with this sort of elongated skit. Has it's moments and was entertaining enough and informative for kids, who could hear laughing through. Wasn't anything special, and the sound mixing, especially at the songs is pretty dire, but wasn't exactly expecting high art here. Is what it is. Some nice cameos though... Derek Jacobi, for instance, showing up at the beginning was a nice little call back to the role that made him and launched so many careers from I, Claudius.

    The Current War

Michael Shannon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland and Nicholas Hoult lead a fantastic cast in this historical retelling of the fued between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse and Nikola Tesla. Who knew electrical engineering could be so engrossing? Well, it's not, but the personalities behind it and the conflict that evolved was. This was a film that I really felt as having missed out on by not being able to really see it to appreciate so much more of it.

The ‘realness’ Removed all the personality the original had.

When I was a wee guy * like the stampede scene, Simba and Nala going to the graveyard bit were terrifying.

Canny imagine any kids watching that and being scared at all.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Decent film. Best Tarantino has made in a while. Think it would’ve worked better as a series/mini series though. Brad Pitt stole the show. Soundtrack, production, sets, fashion etc. All 10/10.

Maybe I was just expecting more but I don’t think it lived up to the hype. Need to give it a second watch.

Cracking film. Canny beat a big * off monster movie. Kyle Chandler is excellent in every role he takes. Really should be a much bigger actor. Millie Bobby Brown again showed she’s got no range outside of screaming...

Watched it again before Mindhunter S2 comes out. Phenomenal movie. Fincher would be the perfect Director for a Batman movie.

Robin Williams' Genie over Will Smith any day.

That said, there was enough about the new version that at least made it worth while... like actually giving Jasmine a story arch and character development was a good addition while the story remained largely faithful. But things like obviously rhe Genie and Iago (Gilbert Gottfried) gave the original film a lot of the humour that the remake could have used more of.

Was it violent and did it show much about the Manson murders?

I like slow Tarantino films anyways....like the hateful 8 and deathproof.

Speaking of Tarantino - I watched Reservoir Dogs last night for the first time in donkeys. Still * awesome 27 years later and probably my joint favourite QT movie (along with Pulp Fiction).

    Both 10/10.

The Michael Madsen / Tim Roth torture scene is still one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen on screen (the introduction to The Jew Hunter in Inglorious Basterds is another one).

    Ranked thereafter...

    Jackie Brown
    Inglorious Basterds
    Kill Bill 1 / 2
    Death Proof
    Hateful Eight
Django (only worth watching for DiCaprio, Waltz, and Don Johnson's performances - the film itself is a * abortion).

Not seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood yet.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

This isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea, mainly because we live in an age of instant gratification and minimal memory spans. It is slow paced, but deliberately so. It’s a thinking man’s film, and an absolute masterpiece. Di Caprio and Pitt are absolutely fantastic, as is the subtle dialogue and the humour mixed in. Each scene adds another layer to what builds up to a thrilling finale. 9/10.

As an add on, if you don’t know who Sharon Tate is, I’d read about her first, before seeing this. Have an appreciation and an understanding of the golden age of Hollywood too. You’ll enjoy it a lot more.

    It was poor. Very poor.
One of (if not) his worse films. Such a * hard watch. The last twenty minutes was good, the first 2:20 was terrible.

Re-watched Pulp Fiction last night, after seeing OUATIH. I definitely prefer Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, but Pulp Fiction is still a classic.
