How the * can you win with a draw? Biggest load of nonsense ever. They should never even have been in that situation, got lucky with the ball hitting Stokes bat when he was sliding to get back and get 6 from it, then win the World Cup with a draw.

Comes down to the most boundaries in the Super over, if scores are tied.

I don't think it does. The commentator said before New Zealand batted that they had to get 16 to win and that 15 wasn't good enough. There wasn't a mention of boundaries mate.

Sorry mate, comes down to boundaries in the whole game. I guess that’s how they knew.

Their captain Eoin Morgan is from Dublin and played for Ireland for 6 years.

same as their rugby team and football team , they benefit from second and third generation immigrants that wont go further than the Watford gap ( I am in no way blaming them its just a benefit that other home nations dont benefit as much )

Absolutely * sensational. Couldn't ask for a better final. Struggle to find a better match in cricket history.

The game finished in a tie. Which is not the same thing as a draw in cricket.
There was then the super over. England hit 15. NZ had to score 16 to win because if it was still a tie it would go to boundary countback.

It came down to boundaries hit throughout the entire day. England hit like 24 (& 2 6's), NZ hit 14 (& 2 6's).

This is the first time ever that a tournament has been decided in this fashion. The whole idea of the super over was to be a tie breaker, so the boundary countback is the second tie breaker if the first tie breaker still cant break the deeadlock. Far from ideal. England got pretty lucky in that run chase on a couple of occasions and dont think anyone would dispute that over the past 4 years as a whole they have been the dominant force in this format of the game, but on the day anything can happen and NZ can feel pretty hard done by, by how this was decided, but they also had their chances. Just how it goes.

    Morgan is your typical Dubliner

In the sense that he is more English than Irish

First time watching cricket, does this mean Ireland are winning by 158 right now?
I’m guessing yes but England get a chance to build up their own score the next day or something?
