Hope we get the isreali mob instead of cluj, tougher away game but we'd royally pump them at home, where-as cluj would be tough in both games.

Probably not. But we might have a CB who will be willing to do us a turn there.

It's still the same scenario where you drop straight into the europa groups if you get knocked out in the play offs?

So see when if say we dropped out the champion's league playoff. We'd get a parachute payment of 5 mill odd and plus the Europa..

That's over 20 million minimum which isn't too shabby..

Obviously double now in the champion's league group's..

SHOULD Celtic see off Nomme Kalju in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, they will face the winners of the tie between CFR Cluj and Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The draw for the third qualifying round of the competition was made today (Monday), and the Hoops now know what awaits them if they beat their Estonian opponents - a trip to either Romania or Israel.

Neil Lennon's side play the first leg of their tie with Nomme Kalju this Wednesday night at Celtic Park (KO: 7.45pm), with the return leg in Estonia the following Tuesday.

If Copenhagen (vs TNS), Dinamo (vs Saburtalo) and us all reach the 3rd round (since the playoff draw is before the 3rd round results) then nothing much, the winner of Maribor/AIK vs BATE/Rosenborg will be one of the unseeded teams in the playoff. And the unseeded teams we could face would then be

    Maribor/AIK/BATE/Rosenborg
    Young Boys
    Sutjeska/APOEL/Dundalk/Qarabag
    Slavia Prague

If however Rosenborg were to knock out BATE and one Dinamo/Copenhagen lost then Young Boys would move up to seeded for the play off which would be a massive bonus. With the best will in the world TNS aren't knocking out Copenhagen so all our hopes are on Rosenborg (again :84:) and Saburtalo, who whilst underdogs did beat Sheriff 3-0 away last round so could cause Dinamo problems. If Rosenborg and Saburtalo win the unseeded teams we could face would change to

    Saburtalo/Ferencvaros/valletta
    Sutjeska/APOEL/Dundalk/Qarabag
    Slavia Prague
    Maribor
    /AIK/Rosenborg

which looks a lot better than a 50% chance of Young Boys/Slavia Prague as our playoff opponents.

In short, just * support Rosenborg and Saburtalo for the next week.

Dumbed it down perfectly mate. Cheers :50:

Just looked at Rosenborg's league position. Played 15. Won 7. Drew 3. Lost 5 :fear:

They've done us a favour before though..

Neither young boys nor Slavia Prague have great records. I would actually say our possible draw for 3rd qualifying could have proved harder with PAOK or red star than possible po draw

Playing home first isn't ideal but the 7.45pm kick off should be better for the atmosphere.

Slavia reached the the EL QFs last season (only losing to eventual Chelsea 5-3 on agg) which is comfortably better than anything we've done lately. They've also kept their best players and strengthened.

Agree with you that PAOK were the team to avoid 3rd round and glad they can't drop down to unseeded for the playoff. Would actually rather face Young Boys than PAOK but the choice is between Young Boys and possibly Ferencvaros and I'd much rather face Ferencvaros.

I get that Red Star have had some decent results over the last couple of years but they were genuinely fortunate to go through against Suduva last round. No where near the threat Slavia or Young Boys would pose.
