    Not sure how accurate it is but transfermarkt says his contract ends in November. Meaning he could be offered a contract just now for no compensation to sign at the end of the year. If this information is correct then I doubt the price for him would be anywhere near two million

    Would rather Sawyers. Cifuentes plays for the worst team in Ecuador and couldn't get in the squad for the best team. So was sold. Not overly fussed.

    And yet was one of the standouts in a squad that came third in the world in the biggest national competition for his age group :fear: I guess we should’ve said no to Larsson as well since he was playing in the fourth tier of Swedish football aged 20

    Why do you think that? That's quite a claim.

    Guy's like this are ideal targets I think. Young, experienced playing in big competitions (u20 WC), ambitious enough to want to move continents and improve themselves, physically imposing. All while having a large potential sell on value, when/if they do get too big for us to hold onto. Ah la Wanayama.

    I dont disagree but I dont see how that relates to us passing up opportunities to sign highly rated young foreign talent?

    Or how it relates to our young players being able to step up and lead? Surely that's just as unrealistic at this stage to place that pressure on them.

    Theres also the age old argument of whether this guy would far outshine any sort of talent we have in our youth set up. Noone knows just how good he is. He could be 3x the player at his age of our best centre mid in the youth team. Looking at his build etc he already looks more physically ready than most.

    Theres no reason why we cant bring in experience and youth.

    Our starting XI is reaching a pretty experienced level in general. We do need a few more players around the 25-28 year old mark though.

    Surely the ambition goes beyond ten in a row?

    We need quality in now, but we also need to be looking ahead and continuing with our model of buying young, developing and selling on for a healthy profit.

    If we just stop signing guys like this, 11 and 12 in a row will be what's on the line when we've got a squad full of ageing players and no saleable assets.

    Our midfield is already extremely strong, domestically. This guy would have time to settle in and start pushing for a first team place over the course of the season.
