Nice info, makes me feel a bit more positive about this

He must be better than Hendry and adds squad depth so fairly happy with this. Also I trust Neil Lennon’s defensive signings 100 times more than I would the snake’s

BONI GINZBURG reckons speed merchant Hatem Abd Elhamed will suit the hustle and bustle of Scottish football.

Celtic have agreed a £1.6million deal for the Hapoel Be’er Sheva defender — who will pen a four-year contract this week.

Be’er Sheva have officially announced Abd Elhamed’s departure. He’ll arrive in Glasgow this week for his medical before signing.

A Be’er Sheva statement said: “Hatem will leave immediately for medical tests and work licenses in Scotland. Assuming the completion of the proceedings we wish him good luck.”

Ex-Rangers and Israel keeper Ginzburg insists there will be few quicker players in Scotland than Abd Elhamed.

Ginzburg said: “Hatem is strong, quick and fast. I hear Celtic want to play him at right-back, and he has the pace and power to do that.

There is no concern over him handling the speed and physical nature of the Scottish game.

“In Israel, the football is not as fast as it is in Scotland. The build-up is slower and Hatem’s pace stands out a lot.

The Premiership is a lot different to Israel. Everything goes quicker and the speed goes up.

“But Hatem will suit that style of football. His pace will be a real asset for Celtic.

“Technically, he would not be as gifted as Nir Bitton — but he is a lot quicker than him.

“Hatem has strength and speed, and that will give him a chance to be a success at Celtic.

Abd Elhamed, 28, is known for his versatility in Israel — having played in almost every position.

He’s played as a stopper for his club for the last two years, but Celts boss Neil Lennon wants Abd Elhamed to play at right-back.

Ginzburg added: “It’s been a curiosity for a long time now, what is Hatem’s best position?

“I have watched him for many years but I don’t know where he is at his best.

    “He’s been playing as a centre-half for Be’er Sheva, but he’s also capable as a full-back.

“On other days, I have seen him play in midfield — and he started out as a STRIKER.

“Now he has moved back to defence and Neil Lennon will know he can play several positions.

“But no matter where Celtic play him, they will get a good level of performance.”

Abd Elhamed has already tried his luck abroad, with Gent and Dinamo Bucharest.

Those moves didn’t work out, but Ginzburg believes he has the character to handle life at Celtic.

He said: “I don’t know Hatem personally but I’ve heard a lot about him. He will have no problem settling in at Celtic and dealing with the pressure there.

“Nir Bitton will also help him. I wish them all the luck in the world — but not when they play Rangers four times a year!

“It’s a good deal for Be’er Sheva and it’s a big opportunity for Hatem to play at a major club.”

I love players like this, he might never be the best in any position he plays for us but he can help us and as a club that’s plagued by injury he will be very useful

CELTIC-BOUND Hatem Abd Elhamed has enlisted the help of Israel boss Andreas Herzog and sports director Willi Rotensteiner to help him secure a work permit for his move to Glasgow.

The Hapoel Be’er Sheva defender is expected to complete his £1.6million transfer in the coming days

ut he has to be granted a work permit for the move to be completed and he will need to prove why he should be granted one because he has only been capped once by Israel.

And Elhamed has been boosted in his hopes of getting a work permit after Herzog and Rotensteiner both wrote to the SFA to champion his cause.

Former Austria star Herzog – who guided Israel to a 2-1 Nations League win over Scotland – has explained that Elhamed would have won far more caps for his country if it hadn’t been for a previous car accident, which curtailed his appearances.

And they have pointed out that he’s been in squads too, without being picked, until he finally made his international debut this summer in a Euro 2020 qualifier against Poland.

Hapoel manager Barak Bakhar admits Elhamed will be a huge loss for his team.

He said: “We are delighted for Hatem and are happy for our club because of the transfer fee.

“It is not every day that a player from Be’er Sheva makes such a big transfer to a huge club like Celtic.

“However, in terms of our squad, this is a massive loss and it will be very difficult to get along without him, but that’s football.”

Don’t know how the work permit will work he won’t qualify and at 28 will he “enhance the reputation of the league and develop” the usual mantra?

I think he should be fine tbh.

Rare we would get one rejected. In fact has it ever happened?
