    They do, but there is some truth to it.

    I just don't accept that it's as difficult are we're making it to sign a competent right back. Given how long we've had to come up with a few names.

    Any other club needs a right back they go out and sign one, whereas we just look on with a look of bewilderment and bang on about difficult they are tae find. :67:

    Do you think we’ve came up with no names? I think we’ve pretty much identified our targets on the footballing side and it’s down to the money men to deliver.

    I refuse to believe we haven’t identified even a target at RB

    Anthony Ralston has been traumatised ever since having his * handed to him by Neymar in the 5-0 thrashing at Parkhead. Its just not good enough that we let that happen without signing anyone. Then the season after to go with Lustig and Jack Hendry who both cost the tories in the board their bonuses. We crashed out to the worst team ever to make the group stages of the Champions League AEK Athens. The defence all have extreme injury problems as well. I can't remember the last time we ever went into a European tie with the first choice back line. Here's hoping this year will be different and give us some * top class European nights where we put the * the sword.

    For some reason, we seem to be looking at the overpriced English market for RB's. Smith, Baldock, Stacey..
    It's baffling to me.

    I would like to think we have targets, aye, but whatever the case, it's taking far too long to get one signed.

    It's concerning how the ones we've been linked with most are/were Baldock, Stacey and Smith. Two of them are uninspiring and they all play in England.

    Particularly given we were after Castagne last year. That was a bit more like it.

    Castagne from what I’ve seen is * gash.

    I don’t think people realise quite how much we were decimated under Congerton. We know the English market better than anything because we’ve had a lot of people in our scouting work there.

    We haven’t built it up again yet, which is * damning and is why I’m in complete agreement with the title of this thread.

    What’s abundantly clear is we haven’t been able to get the ‘right’ player over the line.

    Castagne was an ever-present from January on for the third best team in Italy last season. Albeit he was playing as a left wing back/mid. He'd have been a fantastic signing for us but that ship has sailed now.

    We’ve made 3 signings this window, just about to make it 4.

    Of those 4, 1 (the youth product) was in English football.

    I don’t think that’s focusing on England this window.

    He got his move to Atalanta from Genk as a result of his performances at right back.

    Atalanta play a 352 and their right wing back, Hans Hateboer, was a standout in the league last season. Castagne obviously has the versatility to play either flank so got shifted to the left.

    Not a bullet dodged in the slightest. He'd have been a coup.
