I actually think he's going to start more games than people think. A fast CB is what we need, to cover for the hyper-offensive Bolingoli. Ajer and Jullien are tall and slow. If we play 3 CB-s, Elhamed would be the covering man. A cheap one, though.:38:

Ajer is fast as * for his size.

Pretty sure Oli Burke said something like Ajer was the only player who could get close to him at sprinting.

    Wow.

I always put down his good play down to reading of the game and timing of challenges.:39:

I canny ever remember Ajer being beat in a straight sprint in all honesty.

Don’t think Jullien is slow either.

This guy looks like he can pretty mich play anywhere across thr back 4 and DM. I think if were bringing him in cant see us signing two right backs. Him and one more “starting” right back would probably be our lot.

ISRAEL defender Hatem Abd Elhamed will sign a four-year deal with Celtic.

The Hoops – who will have the option to extend the contract by a further year – have agreed to pay £1.6million with add-ons for the Hapoel Be’er Sheva stopper.

Abd Elhamed is a centre-half who can also play right-back and Neil Lennon sees him as a possible replacement for Mikael Lustig.

It’s understood Be’er Sheva wanted £2m for the 28-year-old, with Celts initially offering £1.5m, but last night both parties struck a deal.

The 6ft 1in ace – who will earn around £7,000 a week at Parkhead – came on as a sub for Bhoys star Nir Bitton as he won his first cap for Israel in last month’s Euro qualifier with Poland.

He started out at Maccabi Tel Aviv and has also played at Ashdod, Dinamo Bucharest and Gent.

Abd Elhamed penned a five-year deal when he moved to Be’er Sheva in 2017 but will now depart after just two years.

Happy with this as long as he’s not the starting rb. We could do with someone who can play a few positions, if it keeps hendry out of the squad it’s a no brainer

Could he be our back up centre half?

Not played many games at right back which worries me if we are signing him as a right back.

We do need more centre half’s so I’m hoping he is played there.

Will wait and see why he is like.

Can't get my head around this if true. He's played less professional games at 28 than KT has, who only turned 22 last month and some people claim is injury prone. Is the guy crap, a sick note, or do they only play 10 games a season in the Isreali league?

CELTIC-bound Hatem Abd Elhamed has opened up on the family tragedy and personal heartache that drove him to be a success.

The Israeli international looks set to become Neil Lennon’s latest signing in a £1.6 million deal from Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

And, in an interview last year, he opened up about the day his footballer brother died in his arms after being knocked down by a truck.

Elhamed insists everything he has achieved in his career is a tribute to his tragic brother, Muhammad, who passed away 11 years ago

He said: “My brother died in my arms. The death ruined my family and my father never managed to recover.

“He was only 15 years old and came with me to training one day.

“On the way home, we stopped at the side of the road and my brother went out to get some food and was hit by a truck.

“He was thrown in the air and his head hit the pavement.

They tried to revive him, but in the end he died with me holding him. Every day I play football, I dedicate it to him.

My father wanted nothing in life but to see Muhammad play football.

“I didn’t start playing football until I was 16 – I didn’t start when I was eight years old, like others.

“I carry the financial responsibility of the whole family now. I cannot afford not to succeed in football.

My brother’s death shaped my character and my success prevented the family from being crushed.”

And 28-year-old Elhamed is convinced his experiences in Europe has helped him become a better player, after featuring for Gent, Dinamo Bucharest and Charleroi.

He said: “I left Ashdod in 2015 because I wanted to sign for a good team in Europe. My experiences in Belgium weren’t a big success, but I enjoyed it in Romania.

Look, I am a person who believes in himself. I love playing for Hapoel Be’er Sheva because they are the biggest club in Israel.

“I’ve played in just about every position in defence and midfield. I’ve come to the conclusion I am better as a defender.

“I believe I am one of the quickest defenders in the country – it gives me a big advantage when I play.

“But I am willing to do whatever it takes to become a top player and make a good career out of football. I owe that to my family.

“I’m a guy with a very strong mentality and I do not care what any critics say. I get up every morning and give 1,000 per cent at training and not just 100.”
