We aren't "way behind" in the search mate, we've identified X amount of targets and the first 3 we've went for haven't been successful. It happens. We move on.

And Lawwell won't be made twitchy by anyone ffs!

We are not in any shape or form desperate. If we were in as bad a way as some are making out, then we'd be begging this * Simpson to come and sign for us - nevermind offering him a trial (imo as view to being backup RB).

The fact we have gone out and tried to sign turnbull for the asking price straigjt away, signed Julliem for £7m and signed a back up LB for £3m speaks volumes about thw business we intend to do this season - give the scouting, hiring and management departments a bit of leeway and let them get on with their job before people call them out and have a go.

    Season hasn't even started yet...

I agree with a lot of that, but we are unquestionably way behind in our search for a right-back, for whatever reason. I would say that is fact and not opinion.
Whether it is time to panic or not is debatable, I hope that those responsible aren’t panicking, but we have two weeks to find one. That’s obviously a bit worrying!

Lennon absolutely loves a player from down south who’s past it.

Who else have we signed from down south who was past it? I genuinely can’t remember.

Oliver Kapo? Bit of a weird one that, actually looked good in his one game :56:

He tried to sign Jimmy Bullard, Sol Campbell and David James in his first spell. Grant Holt for Hibs as well I suppose.

But did we actually sign anyone past it from down south?

Had a look through Lennons signings and he hasn't signed any "past it" players from down south in either stints at Celtic. Only one you can really call past it was Freddie Ljungberg and even he came from Chicago fire.

If we are looking at players like this wife beating * at 32, why didn’t we just offer Lustig a new one year deal to play back up?

Absolutely * pointless even having this * train with us.

It's not the fact that we're looking at experienced players which bothers me. It's the fact that the board won't give Lennon more funds.

Also, I don't follow English football enough, so I didn't know this guy abused his wife. For that reason, I am now against signing him.

I think this a fair point, is Simpson really a marked improvement on Lustig, even so, does he even offer half of what Lustig did just being around the team as one of few leaders?.

I don't think even Lennon can answer yes to those with any assured confidence, so if Simpson were to sign and even though Lustig has already gone that is just a massive kick in the nuts.

Obviously highly debatable but you could say the follow were.

Steven Mouyokolo was past it due to injuries

Freddie Ljungberg from Chicago to be fair so not technically from down south

Olivier Kapo * even happened with him

Daryl Murphy had one strong season with Ipswich after us

Big Maj I thought he was alright but jeez that guy had some amount of haters here but again not technically from down south.

Then there is failed attempts in signing guys like bullard, Campbell, james

    Kapo.

    Ljungberg.

    Mouyokolo.

Granted only one of those plYers could be classified as "past it" (Kapo still in mate 20's , Mouyokolo 26/27) but Ljungberg definitely past it.

Because, despite Lustig's unmatchable experience, his legs were completely gone and he was raped by anyone on the wing with the slightest of pace..
