RONNY DEILA has tipped Kieran Tierney to take England by storm — just like old pal Virgil van Dijk.

Arsenal want to take £25million-rated KT to the English Premier League and are preparing a third bid for the Celtic star.

Now ex-boss Deila — who gave the left back his Hoops debut — has told SunSport that he has a BETTER mentality than Champions League winner VVD at the same age.

Tierney, 22, looks set to join the Gunners with talks ongoing and Serie A giants Napoli waiting in the wings.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has rejected a £25million package from Arsenal with the London club expected back in with a third bid.

Deila gave the defender his Hoops debut in 2015.

He said: “Kieran would be really, really good at Arsenal — I know it.

“He needs to improve a little bit technically, still. But at the same time he has everything else already and will learn the rest.

“I think Kieran has an even better mentality than Virgil. That’s what I saw at that time.

“Virgil, of course, has gone on to a different level since leaving Celtic, but at the time I worked with them both Kieran was even better.

“They both had the physical attributes to play at the highest level. Virgil had everything. But Tierney has the same

This whole saga is dominating our transfer window so far, the days and weeks are moving fast and we still need a good few players in the door.

I'm happy if it's quiet because that's the way we do our business rather than silence since nothing is happening. I believe it's quiet because that's how we do it but, history tells it could be the other reason. Lennon has said more than once there's work ongoing but there are obstacles and recognizes the positions needing filled. I don't think he'd say we were in the market if it wasn't the case.

    It reads like he's off..

It's why I never bought in to his agent talking about the club accepting the offer and how KT was happy to stay last week. I took it as them deflecting from the inevitable that he'd want to give the EPL a shot..

I certainly won't hold it against the wee man if he goes. I'm convinced and have been for most of this talk of Arsenal being interested from the off, that he's gone..
