Aye probably. His family done everything to help him and he * all over it. His last chance of hope saw the celebs with a few quid pay for the best treatment and he done the same again. He has crossed his bridges and burned them behind him. He is typical of an alcoholic beyond help because they always know better than everyone else. It goes for anyone with serious addiction, when you lose your wife and then the kids and house. People stop calling round or phoning to go out and when your brothers or sisters don’t want to know then you have to take a step back and take a sober thought at how you are wasting yours and destroying everyone else’s right to a relatively happy life. He is selfish and always was, Gazza the wee childlike spoilt brat. Pity party finished for that guy a few years back and now he needs to go back and pander to the bigots again.

In one sense I have sympathy for his addictions and mental health issues.

However, neither makes you behave the way he has. It sounds like he was always a horrible person before the alcohol took a hold.

As regards to sympathy, addicts and people with mental health issues do not want sympathy. Support and understanding would be the best and tbh the harsh truth is usually a good wake up call. When you are lucky to be surrounded by support from family and friends you don’t keep trying to hurt them. You strive to make things right and the first step is recognition of your problem and accept the lack of responsibility shown. Tough love for an addict and the right treatment for mental issues. Sobriety is a time for reflection and Gazza has had enough of those to sort it out. He is picking drink and coke over his kids and family life. * he is picking them over living. George Best ran out of sympathy in the end because he used the sympathy as an excuse to drown his sorrows. If Gazza wants to get obliterated then he should enjoy himself while doing it in his own privacy. Stop making a song and dance out of it and he knows when to play the bigot clown act to get his pay.

Gazza is a class clown. I've no doubt he would shout up the Ra if people were willing to pay 18 quid for the privilege

You believe your schtick @Markybhoy and therein lies the difference.

Gascoigne with a few drinks in him, with encouragement and given a few quid would 100% shout up the ra. Let's be honest, if we'd have signed him in 95 instead of them, he'd be doing just that, and trying everything else to appeal to our fans and squeeze every possible penny from them, just as he does to the hun support. He doesn't actually give a * about Britishness, protestantism, the orange order, playing flutes, anything. He has a deep psychological need to be liked & receive attention, which he got 10x more than he could have imagined after Italia 90. He has never been able to adjust since.

There's also just the angry, lashing out, wife-beating, racist side to him, exasperated no doubt by not receiving that positive attention and affirmation anymore. Sympathy runs out, and his did with pretty much everybody long ago. All he has left are people trying to squeeze some of whatever money he can get out of him, people looking for a cheap laugh at his expense, and people who can't stand him.
