Hes's obviously worth nowhere near that and as above isn't at McGregor's level but very few (if any) are in Scotland. It is a case of the one that got away.

All hypothetical but if (and I accept it's a big if before everyone jumps on me) we were to lose Tierney to Arsenal and McGregor to Leicester this summer then it rips out not only 2 of our best players that have been the bed-rock of our success the last few years but also Scottish guys that know the club and league inside out.

With Lustig leaving and Brown's game-time potentially dwindling down this season, I can't help but think a grafter and leader like McGinn would've been a good signing in this transition period for us.

Once guys like McGinn, McCarthy, Snodgrass etc. go down South they're outwith our budget for the foreseeable.

 

Probably rather McGinn than that Fred if we’re going by United money but

 

£50mil is insane. Would Villa really say no to £40mil for him? Even that's a mental amount.

 

Watched him play a few games for Scotland. Absolute * *. Wouldnt get a game in the Celtic midfield ahead of Brown, McGrogor and Rogic....not a * chance.

 

It was from the Sun, I doubt it but still, shows how well he’s done down there. Always obvious he was a cracking player.

 

If Hibs stuck in the 10% clause, they'll make double from this sale than what they got for actually selling him

 

I think Solskjaer is looking at the problems at United- over-paid guys with massive egos- then looking back to the team he played in under Fergie, and trying to go more in that direction. They always had the domestic spine with Neville, Keane, Giggs, Beckham, Scholes etc, whereas now they're all over the place. Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James, John McGinn, new contract for Rashford, and linked with Harry Maguire, Declan Rice & Jadon Sancho. Trying to recreate that domestic spine.

 

He's certainly not *.

He's no World-beater granted but he's a decent player, which was evident on a few occasions against our much-lauded Invincibles. He ran the show and scored 2 belters in a 2-2 draw at Parkhead that could've ended our unbeaten run 3 months earlier than it did.

Rogic and McGregor are both technically superior but McGinn has a bit more dig than both and revels in the dirtier side of the game. Broony is outstanding but at 34 his game-time is going to reduce gradually.

I think hes a decent hard working player but I dont think hes technically that good. Makes some really bad mistakes in most Scotland games.

 

Still feel sick to this day we missed out on him. Fantastic player as he is proving, I expect him to do well in the EPL too

 

He would've perfect here, as Sean said, he does the dirty work that not many of our players tend to. He was a ready made Brown replacement and we penny pinched and * about.

I didn't expect him to attract top 6 interest so quickly but I can see why Solskjaer would want him, his tenacity and physicality makes him a very effective midfielder. Kayal-esque.

 

I'm still not over Rivaldo, never mind last summer's * ups.

He's all heart and got a great engine but a £50 million pler? Nae chance. Don't buy this for a minute anyway as I've only seen it reported in the Scum.
