This guy is using Celtic as a stepping stone, and the thread starter had such a hard on for beginning a new thread that he didn't even take the time to check his spelling.

    So what?

Dembele, Eddy, Shved, Van Dijk, Wanyama, Ntcham etc. These guys are all using/have used us as a stepping stone. Couldn't care less, provided they give us good service for however long they stay here.

Christopher Jullien was enjoying a stroll in the garden before being flattened by the call that changed his life.

The French defender sealed a £7 million move to Celtic yesterday, less than a month after making a secret, whistlestop visit to Glasgow.

The former Toulouse star told yesterday how his Welsh missus, Charlotte, was once a dancer in the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris.

But she couldn’t have hot-stepped it to Scotland quicker than her man when they were on holiday in New York at the beginning of June and his agent phoned with a Parkhead invite.

The evening for the Julliens ended with an almighty upset when Anthony Joshua lost his world heavyweight boxing titles to 25-1 outsider Andy Ruiz.

But everything went to plan for the six foot five inch footballer yesterday as he became the second most expensive signing in Celtic’s history behind £9 million countryman Edouard Odsonne.

Jullien said: “I’m really happy to complete the transfer. Everyone has welcomed me really well, so I am very excited.

“I heard of Celtic’s interest over the last month. My agent told me there had been an interest for a long time from Celtic but now they were really committed to doing something.

“Afterwards I was on holiday and he told me there was a chance to come and see the facilities and everything around the club.

“I was in New York at the time, so I came over for the visit and then returned my wife and kid on holiday a couple of days later. I don’t regret it, because it was really nice to see everything.

“At the exact moment of the call I was walking to Madison Square Garden to watch the Joshua fight. I just love the vibes given out by the boxers, especially Joshua. I love how he fights and how strong he is.

“I was in New York for a week and saw tickets were sold out. I was sad about that but my wife surprised me with two tickets she had bought earlier. I’m going to remember that time forever

“I told my agent when he called, ‘This is great news. I’m just going to see the fight and then I’ll contact you right after that.’ Two or three days after that, I was here.

“I know Celtic have a big history and for me that was a good point and, of course, when I knew about the interest I contacted Odsonne. We spoke about it for one or two weeks.

“He told me good stuff about the club. After that, my mind was set. I saw the facilities and the interest the club had in me for a long time and my mind was made up.”

Jullien may have been rejected by the French national academy at Clairefontaine when he was a kid, but he was in good company.

His team-mate at youth club US Torcy, based near the town of Lagny-Sur-Marne to the east of Paris, was Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba.

Jullien added: “We were born in the same hospital and we played for the same team. We are the same age, 26.

We played in the same team when we were young and it’s strange we are getting closer now in our professional careers, but he’s still way up there.

“In football everyone goes their separate ways and although we’re still in contact sometimes, he has his own life and I have mine.

“I’m just so happy for him and all he has achieved. As kids we didn’t speak about our futures, only in enjoying football at that moment.

“His career has just gone way too fast and it would be the best if I can win some trophies and have my own success at Celtic.”

Jullien has won praise in his homeland for the consistency he has shown with Toulouse over the last three seasons in Ligue 1, even as the team have struggled against relegation.

Given his height, it’s no surprise his greatest asset is his aerial ability but he has also been recognised for his ability to read the game and his distribution from the heart of the defence.

He started his senior career with Auxerre before three relatively unsuccessful years with Freiburg, but has matured since returning to Ligue 1, via a loan spell at Dijon, and can’t wait to impact at Parkhead.

He said: “I can’t wait to play in front of the Celtic fans and the Old Firm games are especially exciting. I watched the game last year when Odsonne scored, it was played with so much intensity.

“I even played with Bobo Balde’s brother, Yassir, at Auxerre when we were teenagers. He told me everything about his brother and how he was so huge and powerful. I remember the pictures, I can confirm that!”

Jullien remains unperturbed about the size of the transfer fee paid for the player who has been snapped up as a replacement for Belgian stopper Dedryck Boyata.

He said: “I’m not really focusing on the fee, more on what I can do. I know that this team last year did a really good job.

“That’s a good pressure for me. I’m coming into a team that wins a lot of things and know I’ll do my best to bring everything I can to the table and to do the same things again.”

CJ: "I am very happy to be here, I have received a warm welcome. I can't wait to get started."

CJ: "Neil Lennon came to meet me in Paris and he told me what he wanted from me. I can't wait to join him and the team and work for him.

CJ: "I have joined a historical club and the best club in Scotland! I can't wait to play my part."

    CJ: "I spoke to
    @Oedouard22
before I came here. It's great to have a teammate like him how well he's done."

CJ: "I come here to have as big an impact as I can. To play in front of these fans, in this stadium - I can't wait."

CJ: "I am going to give everything I can for the club. It's a big challenge for me. I'm really excited about it!"

The other big positive to come out of this is Edouard advising him to come, as that has a couple of implications. One, he isn't likely to be pushing for a move this season and secondly all the stuff about the players not being happy under Lenny would appear to be bollocks. I can't see him telling anyone to come if they aren't happy with him being there.

Hopefully a wee French pal will help Eddie kick on as well....

With his size, we only need him to be even slightly decent with his feet and he’ll be great here.

Yeah wish people would let go of this sort of thing. If we want players who want to spend their careers here only then we really would be *.

Going by this tadgers argument (before he contradicted himself), there will never be a "marquee" signing in Scottish football if we can only use Ronaldo is the benchmark.
