So many things in multiple threads that sound so familiar. Having a thread on a Motherwell player in Celtic Chat was a brilliant idea.

Definitely mate, teams aren’t slow in telling other teams they have signed a crock, Norwich would have told their fans straight away reason didn’t sign him was a failed medical

Would have been all over social media before he’d left the medical room, good point about hartson but if there is any doubt over his medical Celtic quite right to hold off

Pull out if they still want 7 figures. Not an injury worth risking too much if it is the medial ligament

Rivaldo coetzee hasn't played football since he failed a medical with us.
In this era of sport and medical science a failed medical means alot more, the player realistically has a medium term injury if hes failed it but we're still trying to make a deal.
John failed it based on general match fitness.

Not entirely accurate, Coetzee played 13 times for his club this year.

Pull the deal, it’s a lot of money for a lad who has had a good 3/4 of a season and is only 19.

He could end up being really injury prone and we are then stuck with that lay out of money.

Some may say it’s only minor surgery but no surgery is really that minor when it creates a weak spot especially at such a young age.

If the club are willing to still sign him even if he needs an operation then we need to renegotiate not only the transfer fee but the wages as well.

We can’t take anymore risks near to the 10, we need players to be fit and ready for game time and not in the sidelines from the get go.

Use that money for someone else.

Good to hear it didn't retire him. Boy was a standout at his club so you'd imagine its not a selection issue for him only playing 13 games. No way could his injury problems have been handled with our demanding schedule though.
Players with such injuries should be avoided when planning for a 60+ game season. Can see it in Tam and Jozo, even Griff and his calf. Too risky getting another player in with injury problems unless the deal is incredibly favourable for us now

To be fair this lad could be injured half the time as well. To much of a risk for me regarding the transfer fee and wages to have a potential sick note.

If McManus is right and it is a 8-10 week wait on him being fit that is us at the end of the summer window we could sign him and get him the surgery!

A player can get injured at any time. Look at Arzani in his first game for us. If this is a minor knee injury it’s nothing. Players get back to full fitness after ACL repairs. Sign him fix him and play him

lol got an image of BBJ on the treadmill at the medical sweating buckets after just stepping on!, I'm sure it was his knee that was knackered, would be intersting to know if with the developments in sports science etc if we would still have signed him today with the same injury

We need players who are fit right now, important that we get them integrated within the squad as soon as possible, having tae wait 2 -3 months for this guy to get fit is something that we should not be entertaining, especially not at 3 mil.

If it’s only 8-10 weeks then surely he’ll be signed. It’s not ideal but if we rate him that highly then it’s not really that bad either.

But Arzani is not our player, so that’s not really relevant to be fair.

We are paying out 3.25 million for a lad who had 3/4 of a good season and who hasn’t fully developed till he is 21 and surgery minor or major will play a factor in his career.

We need players to be ready to go right off the bat not in 12 weeks time and then get match fitness as well.

Who is to say that he won’t be injured loads and this is just the tip of the iceberg? We can get other targets.
