Then in that case he’d make more than more than enough elsewhere.

My point is that he could earn in a fortnight more than most people earn in a year, while winning major honours, and having the opportunity to play in the Champions League, at Celtic.

I never once claimed that he could only earn obscene amounts of money here, so you are arguing with yourself.

My point is, he’s a footballer so he won’t be comparing his wage with a plumbers. We all know they make obscene amount of money. It’s a nothing statement.

Parachute payments are to help wean expensive players off their books year by year. Most clubs try and get rid of the 40k players.

Huddersfield are supposedly looking at bringing in some ugandan RB from the Bundesliga because Smith is “all but off” to Celtic.

    Could be on here.

If this is on I hope they get a shift on, driving me mental all these right back links! Now I've got the fear this big Hatem lad whos played right back 5 times ends up our man, would be a lot happier with Tommy Smith.

Going by youtube, which is super reliable, he would be my first choice of the right backs we've been linked with.

Tommy Smith and Jack Stacey to compete for the right back spot, would take that.....

Smith and Stacey would be good; Smith and Gumny would be outstanding.

Celtic have opened talks with Huddersfield Town about signing right-back Tommy Smith, Football Insider has learned.

The Scottish giants are locked in a battle with Stoke City to land the 27-year-old, who could leave the Terriers this window after their relegation to the Championship.

A Celtic source has told Football Insiderthe club are working on a deal for Smith and negotiations are underway over a deal for the £3million-valued defender.

There is strong competition for Smith as he is also a firm target for Stoke manager Nathan Jones, who, as revealed by Football Insider last month, has made him one of his priority targets this summer.

Huddersfield are vulnerable to losing Smith after their return to the Championship, given that he is out of contract next summer.

They are braced for formal bids for their club captain, whose experience and pedigree is highly regarded by leading clubs north and south of the border.

Smith has been a key player for Huddersfield since joining in 2012 after his Manchester City release, accumulating 39 Premier League appearances and 143 in the Championship.

He ended last season as the first choice right-back at Huddersfield after being on the fringes of the starting XI for the first half of the campaign.
