Bayern Munich are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign highly-rated Celtic defender Liam Morrison.

According to Football Insider, the German champions are in pole position to secure Morrison’s services this summer.

The Hoops have been attempting to tie the 16-year-old down to a professional deal for a number of months, however, Morrison has yet to sign a contract and looks set to be on his way out ahead of the new season.

The teenager is regarded as one of the best young prospects to emerge from Celtic Park in recent years and has also been linked with a move to Hoffenheim.

Morrison has excelled in Celtic’s and Scotland’s youth sides over the past 12 months which has resulted in Bayern showing a real interest in the player.

If the defender does make the move to Munich, Celtic would only receive a minimal compensation package from the European giants.

Numerous players have left Britain for the Bundesliga in recent years, and it appears as if Morrison may well be the latest to do so.

 

If he's so promising in such a needy position then why are we not offering him a good contract like we did Turnbull(*)

 

He's only 16 and never had a first team appearance. Hardly comparable to Turnbull.

 

He will never be heard of again. Won't make the grade at bayern. Another Islam Feruz.

 

I have a feeling this lad will go to play at a decent standard, not a Milan Misun here I think

 

Hasn't stood out in the couple of game's I've seen him in but he's rated very highly..

Will be a disappointment if he * off..

 

Don’t see us being able to compete with Bayern on this one If they really want him

 

If he's a Celtic supporter then I see no reason not to stay with us.

 

Would always like to think the same...


But if you're given the opportunity to develop from the age of 16 at Celtic or Bayern Munich, I think almost everyone would take the opportunity in Germany.




Plus, legal drinking age and all that...

He will have to be outstanding to make it at a club like Bayern München. Best of luck to him if he moves.

It's curious that he's yet to even play regularly for our reserves, when he is so highly rated.

Aye, tough choice.

 

Morrison has apparently been included in the squad for our pre season games in Austria and Switzerland, hasn't signed a deal yet though.

 

If he's as good as is made out then hopefully we can sway him..

Maybe get him straight out on loan if he signs up..
